As End Of Title 42 Looms, Biden Bashed From Both Sides Of The Aisle As 700,000 Migrants Approach The Unsecure Southern Border

Even Democrats have found Biden's handling of the southern border appalling, as a top Senate Democrat bashes President Biden's plan to send 1,500 active-duty troops to the border.

Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) has come out in protest of Biden's last-ditch effort to control a southern border he has let go completely out of hand, per Politico. Tuesday, Menendez put out a statement saying “There is already a humanitarian crisis in the Western Hemisphere, and deploying military personnel only signals that migrants are a threat that requires our nation’s troops to contain.”

The southern border has seen record numbers of migrants arriving since Biden took office, with a 40 percent increase in migrants between 2021 and 2022, per the Committee on Homeland Security. Each year of Biden's administration, new records have been set for migrants coming into the country. A document from Politico even lays out how Biden has had the worst border crisis in all of American history.

The crisis only looks to be getting worse in the coming days, as Title 42, a critical public health law that has allowed the United States to deny asylum and migration for public health concerns, is set to expire on May 11th. Experts are warning that the end of Title 42 will lead to one of the largest influx of migrants ever seen, one that the U.S. likely cannot handle currently.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, up to 700,000 migrants are waiting to rush the border when Title 42 ends.

Despite having known this information for a long time, the Biden administration has done little to nothing to plan around the looming crisis. “The administration has had over two years to plan for the eventual end of this Trump-era policy in a way that does not compromise our values as a country," Menendez explained.

Biden only just made his first visit to the US-Mexico border in January of this year, per CNN, despite the problem having been a growing threat since he took office. However, even during the visit, Biden didn’t even bother to meet with any migrants, much to his fellow Democrats' chagrin.

Biden has done nothing but impede the security of the southern border. Within his first 100 days in office, he issued 94 executive actions that stopped all construction on the border wall, attempted to halt deportations for 100 days, suspended new enrollments in the Migrant Protection Protocols, as well as many other negative decisions, as reported by Politico.

Even after his first 100 days, his policies on border security haven’t gotten any better. Biden’s 2023 budget cut border security funding, the administration is fighting with the Supreme Court to end Trump's “Remain in Mexico” policy, and Biden is actively working to undermine ICE by limiting its enforcement.

During his presidency, Biden has failed to tackle the problem of increased migration on the southern border. His lackluster policy decisions are now leading to attacks on both sides of the aisle. He has allowed untold numbers of migrants to flood the country, all the while being completely unable to provide the necessary measures to handle them. Unless Biden makes major changes soon, Americans can only expect it to get much worse.
