On Saturday, leading 2024 presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump held a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire. It drew at least 11,770 supporters to his event in freezing temperatures before Tuesday's New Hampshire primary. Trump held the rally at the SNHU Arena in New Hampshire, which has a max capacity of 11,770. Trump spoke to the massive crowd for nearly two hours and was joined by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R-SC), South Carolina's Lieutenant governor, and many other senior officials. On Friday, Trump received the endorsement of former 2024 Republican presidential candidate South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).
On Sunday, Trump made a surprise at his New Hampshire Campaign Headquarters to thank volunteers and spoke about his record-setting rally, saying, "Did you see the crowd we had yesterday? We took an arena; we broke the record. It was so packed there wasn't a seat. And then outside, we're trying to get people in. The biggest they've ever had." "We need big margins because we have to send real unity as a message because you know with real unity they won't be able to cheat; it won't matter," Trump said. "I don't know what it is with New Hampshire, but you probably have per capita the worst drug situation in the country. Why don't you try getting a new governor that would help, okay?"
After Trump's massive rally, Trump took to his top-rated social media platform, Truth Social, and wrote, "3 days from now, we are going to win New Hampshire—and then we are going to defeat Crooked Joe Biden, and we are going to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! The primary is THIS TUESDAY, January 23rd—so you need to get every Patriot you know and turn them out to vote in record numbers. All the information you need is at nh.donaldjtrump.com/. GET OUT AND VOTE!"
This comes after Trump made history as the first-ever Republican or Democrat presidential candidate to win the Iowa caucuses with a majority of the vote despite below-freezing temperatures. The last time a candidate came close to winning the majority was in the 1984 Democrat caucus when Walter F. Mondale won 49 percent of the vote.
Iowa hand-counted their paper ballots on live television. With all caucusgoers counted, Donald Trump earned 51 percent of the vote and 16 delegates. Florida's Absentee Governor, Ron DeSantis (R-FL), came in a distant second place with 21.2 percent, 29.8 points behind Trump. Former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) came in third with 19.1 percent. Trump's massive landslide victory even resulted in Trump winning 98 of the 99 counties, only losing Johnson County, where many Democrats joined Republicans to caucus, by a single vote. Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy dropped out of the race following his fourth-place finish and endorsed President Trump after only securing 7.7 percent of the vote.
