Bill Barr, former attorney general under Donald Trump and a general critic of his former boss, endorsed the report submitted by the special counsel John Durham, who was appointed by Barr, on the maleficence of the FBI's discredited investigation into Donald Trump over Russian collusion, according to Just the News. Barr made his remarks about the report during an interview with Fox News and was recorded as saying, "I think the real story here—from the FBI’s perspective—is what an abomination this was, this so-called investigation. If it wasn’t a witch hunt, it’s a damn good imitation of one."

Mr. Barr continued by emphasizing the total lack of professionalism exhibited by anyone who mindlessly parroted the story. He said, "Both the press and the FBI abandoned any semblance of professionalism and took up the cause with a vengeance." 

The report itself found that "Neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation" and that then FBI Director James Comey and CIA Director John Brennan were aware of the Clinton campaign's plot to fabricate this story about Trump as early as August of 2016.

Mr. Barr conceded that the report's findings "]help] him [Trump] in the short term [politically for his 2024 run]" but mused that "My own view is that he will not win the nomination." Barr confessed that his analysis was driven by the fact that "I just don't think he's the right leader for the Republican Party going forward. I think people who want to restore America should look for a big victory that brings strength into the Congress and allows us to achieve some fundamental changes. And I don't think he's capable of delivering that kind of victory." 

Barr is not the only one promoting the report. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) wrote, "I can’t think of a scandal in all of U.S. history that is quite like that outlined in the Durham report. The FBI was involved in a criminal effort to change the outcome of an election—using accusations that the agency knew were utterly false."
