BREAKING: Governor DeSantis Takes Major Action Against Hyatt That Hosted ‘Sexually Explicit’ Show With Children

On Tuesday, Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R-FL) office announced that his administration will be revoking the alcohol license of the Hyatt Regency Miami hotel after the establishment hosted a “sexually explicit show with children present.”

The DeSantis administration filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation which manages the various licenses that businesses need to operate.

The complaint explains that the show, which took place on December 27th, was advertised as welcoming “all ages” and did not warn attendees of the sexual nature of the show.

In response to the show’s advertising, the DeSantis team at the time sent a notice to the Hyatt that explained that “sexually explicit drag show performances constitute public nuisances, lewd activity, and disorderly conduct when minors are in attendance.”

Following the warning, the venue did change its advertising to “recommended for 18+ audiences,” but, it still allowed minors to attend if they were accompanied by an adult.

“During the show and in the presence of persons less than 16 years of age, performers appeared on stage wearing sexually suggestive clothing and prosthetic female genitalia,” the complaint notes.

The complaint then went on to cite multiple instances where acts of sexual misconduct, vulgarity, and indecent displays took place:

  • “‘Intentionally’ exposing prosthetic female breasts and genitalia to the audience.
  • ‘Intentionally’ exposing performers’ buttocks to the audience.
  • ‘Stimulating masturbation through performers’ digitally penetrating prosthetic female genitals.’
  • ‘Graphic depictions of childbirth and/or abortion.'”

Gov. DeSantis’ Press Secretary Bryan Griffin explained that the governor believes that “Sexually explicit content is not appropriate to display to children and doing so violates Florida law. Governor DeSantis stands up for the innocence of children in the classroom and throughout Florida,” as reported by Florida’s Voice.

Yet again Governor DeSantis shows that he is willing to stand up against those wishing to sexualize children. His actions should set an example for other Republican governors across the country who should follow suit to combat these sexually explicit shows.
