BREAKING: Prominent House Republican Lauren Boebert Rushed Into Emergency Surgery

On Monday, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was rushed to a local hospital to undergo emergency surgery after a blood clot formed in her upper left leg. In a statement, Boebert's campaign explained that she went to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado, after she experienced "severe swelling" in her leg. The Colorado Republican underwent a CT Scan and was diagnosed with May-Thurner Syndrome, a rare condition that disrupts blood flow.

Following the CT Scan, Dr. Rebecca Bade recommended surgery to remove the clot and insert a stent to alleviate Boebert's symptoms. Following the surgery, the 37-year-old congresswoman took time to rest and is expected to make a full recovery. "I want to thank Dr. Rebecca Bade and the entire team at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies for their great care and providing helpful insight on my recent diagnosis," Rep. Boebert said. "I'm looking forward to making a full recovery and getting back to Congress to continue fighting for Colorado."

"We successfully performed surgery on the Congresswoman this morning and expect her to make a full recovery," said Dr. Bade, a hospitalist at the hospital. "Patients with May-Thurner Syndrome who undergo the procedure to restore blood flow are able to live and work just as they have in the past after a brief recovery." The syndrome, which impacts women who have given birth between 20-45 at a greater rate, can be caused by prolonged sitting, dehydration, or extensive travel.

Rep. Boebert is currently campaigning in a nearby Colorado district to replace newly-retired Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO). Boebert narrowly escaped defeat in the 3rd District in the 2022 midterms from her Democrat opponent, Adam Frisch, who significantly outraised her for a 2024 rematch. Given the tough competition, Boebert decided to run in the 4th District instead, where she would face a highly competitive fight to be the party's nominee.

"“I will not allow dark money that is directed at destroying me personally to steal this seat. It’s not fair to the 3rd District and the conservatives there who have fought so hard for our victories," Boebert said in her announcement. "The Aspen donors, George Soros and Hollywood actors that are trying to buy this seat, well they can go pound sand."
