BREAKING: House Republicans Make MAJOR Announcement In Impeachment Of DHS Secretary Mayorkas

On Monday, Republican Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) officially scheduled the first impeachment hearing for Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas as he continues to ignore the ongoing crisis at the US-Mexico border that has led to millions of illegal migrants crossing into border states and venturing further into the interior of the country.

The hearing is scheduled to take place on January 10, as reported by Fox News Digital. "For almost three years, the American people have demanded an end to the unprecedented crisis at the Southwest border, and they have also rightly called for Congress to hold accountable those responsible," Green said in a statement. "That's why the House Committee on Homeland Security led a comprehensive investigation into the causes, costs, and consequences of this crisis. Our investigation made clear that this crisis finds its foundation in Secretary Mayorkas' decision-making and refusal to enforce the laws passed by Congress, and that his failure to fulfill his oath of office demands accountability."

Articles of impeachment were first introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) back in November following the death of two of her constituents in Texas. As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, eight people, including two Americans, were tragically killed in a head-on collision in Batesville, Texas, in November after a smuggler of illegal immigrants crashed into an SUV driven by two Georgia residents.

"I'm proud to have led the charge to IMPEACH Secretary Mayorkas for months in the House of Representatives. Before the House left Washington for Christmas break, I forced a vote on my impeachment resolution that put every member on the record," Greene wrote about the impeachment hearing announcement. "Unfortunately, some Republicans joined every single Democrat to block the resolution and save Mayorkas's job."

"I reintroduced my resolution the very next week and pulled it only once I was guaranteed we would impeach Mayorkas in January," she continued. "Well, I'm happy to report that the first official impeachment hearing for Secretary Mayorkas will be taking place next Wednesday!"

If impeached, Mayorkas would be the first cabinet secretary to be removed from office since 1876, and he would deserve such treatment. According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), agents at the southern border encountered over 300,000 migrants at the southern border for the month of December, an all-time record. December also saw the highest level of border crossings in a single day, with 12,000 on December 5.

House Republicans have been talking about impeaching Secretary Mayorkas for years now, but it appears that action is finally being taken against him. Hopefully, House Republicans will be able to unify and formally impeach Mayorkas and even potentially win over some Democrats in vulnerable states like Arizona in the Senate to get him removed from office.

This is nothing more than grandstanding. The Democrats will stop it from happening.
