BREAKING: Ron DeSantis Says He Will Build The Wall, Tackle DEI In Universities, And Go After Debanking During Campaign Announcement Twitter Space

On Wednesday evening, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) launched his official campaign on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk. Despite various initial crashes as hundreds of thousands attempted to join, Ron DeSantis officially announced.

The Twitter Space turned to the issue of immigration with DeSantis saying, "I'd reverse what Biden's doing. You need to shut the border down. You should not be entertaining these asylum claims for people who cross illegally."

He went on to explain that many of these migrants are coming for economic migrants and they know that they will be released into the interior of the country due to Biden's policies. He said that he will build a border wall, reintroduce the Remain in Mexico policy, and hold the drug cartels accountable. He also said that it will be a day one issue and "we will stop this insanity once and for all."

DeSantis said that there would be follow-through and that he understands the pressure points of using all the levers of the executive branch. An example he gave was using Mexico to ensure that the wall was built and the border was secure.

DeSantis went on to explain his various accomplishments on immigration in his state such as relocating migrants to Martha Vineyard, sending law enforcement to the border, and enforcing e-verify.

"This whole business we are in is about producing results," DeSantis said, adding that he doesn't need fanfare. He went on to explain that he made an impact in the state of Florida and that he will bring that same "attitude to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."

Education activist Chris Rufo then asked the governor about how he will tackle Washington D.C. and go against the Left's "long march through the institutions."

In response, the governor said that "achievement matters" and that he's a blue-collar kid who "knows extensively about what normal people think about this stuff and I have a good sense" of what the average American thinks and when the media goes against that.

He went on to explain that he would be doing "alternative accreditation" for universities to fight back against DEI.

The Space then turned to the "threat of debanking" with a question from Dana Loesch. Her question focused on how regulatory guidance has been used to debank politically incorrect businesses and citizens.

In response to the topic, DeSantis explained that Americans have certain fundamental rights and that when Wall Street pushes ESG, the Left is doing an end run against the Constitutional system by doing through the banks what they couldn't do through the ballot box.

The governor explained that he has taken action against ESG investing during his governorship. "It's a fundamental question but we will not be a free society if major financial institutions will do through the economy what people weren't able to achieve through the ballot box."

The discussion then turned to Bitcoin where the presidential candidate explained that Americans have every right to hold Bitcoin, adding that the bureaucracy is attempting to regulate it out of existence. DeSanits also blasted the idea of a central bank digital currency.

The Twitter Space then concluded at around 7:30 pm EST with DeSantis saying, "We want you on the team... God bless everybody and thank you."
