On Friday, Anheuser-Busch heir Billy Busch made comments on potentially getting a group of investors together to purchase Anheuser-Busch InBev following the massive fallout from the Dylan Mulvaney partnership, jokingly saying, “Make Bud Light great again.”
Busch was speaking with conservative personality Benny Johnson on ‘The Benny Johnson Show’ when he was asked if there was “any chance of you getting this company back?” Johnson joked about how consumers would like it if a more commonsense man like Billy Busch resumed reign over the company compared to the current woke regime.
“You know what? I’ll tell ya, if– I know Anhesuer-Busch InBev just sold off eight different brands and if they ever decide to sell the Bud Light brand, they can sell it to me. I’d sure as heck try to pull some people together and buy that brand because I think we can make Bud Light great again,” the beer giant's heir answered. Earlier in August, Anheuser-Busch sold off eight different smaller beer brands to Canadian cannabis company Tilray Brands, per the DC Enquirer. The eight brands sold for a disappointing $85 million, nowhere near the amount of money that the company has lost since the boycott against their premiere brand began. After the answer from Busch, Johnson made jokes about how bizarre it was that the company put such controversial topics on their cans. He mentioned the idea of putting Donald Trump with a MAGA hat onto a Bud Light can but noted how even he can see that it’s “probably not a great business decision,” something Billy Busch agreed with. The Bud Light heir has already been critical of the Dylan Mulvaney situation brought about by the company, saying in a previous interview that his “ancestors would have rolled over in their graves,” per the DC Enquirer. He has attempted to voice his support for sections of the LGBTQ community but still noted that those kinds of things were “never meant to be on a beer can and never meant to be pushed in people’s faces.” Busch certainly seems more wise when compared to the current executives heading the Bud Light brand. He is well aware that Bud Light is a simple product and should not be used as any sort of political machine to push forth controversial ideas onto consumers. It’s bizarre that it is somehow rare to observe in high-level executives but that is the world that exists nowadays.
