Chicago Driver Defends Himself Against Armed Assailants In Chicago Shootout

On Saturday, a 26-year-old rideshare driver opened fire on two robbers at around 1 AM in self-defense on Saturday.

According to Breitbart, the driver had just completed a ride when a female and male assailant approached him. One of the robbers was armed and was able to take the driver's phone and flee with the vehicle. While driving away, the robber opened fire on the driver.

In response to this, the driver pulled his own concealed weapon and opened fire on the two assailants, striking the man in the leg and grazing the woman on the arm. The driver was uninjured and the male robber was later taken to the hospital.

As Chicago continues to be overrun with crime, the law-abiding citizens that remain are having to take matters into their own hands and defend themselves. Luckily, the rideshare driver came out of the ordeal unscathed, but the over 20 people that were shot over the weekend were not as lucky.

Over the weekend, the city of Chicago, led by Mayor Brandon Johnson (D), had yet another bloody weekend after at least 23 people were shot in the city's streets.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the Windy City has seen some of the bloodiest weekends on record under Mayor Johnson's leadership or lack thereof.

Over Memorial Day weekend earlier this year, the city saw 11 fatalities out of 48 people injured in gun and knife-related assaults.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Memorial Day weekend death toll was the highest it had been since 2015 when 12 people were killed. However, that doesn't meet the shocking 71 injured over the Memorial Day weekend in 2016.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 372 people had been killed in Chicago from the beginning of the year up to Sunday.
