Cooper: The Media Needs Trump & Can’t Live Without His Bigly Ratings

On June 16, 2015, successful world-class businessman, reality TV star host, and best-selling author Donald J. Trump announced his candidacy for the office of President of the United States. The future president went on to spend less money than other presidential candidates because he didn’t have to, thanks to the mainstream media’s constant coverage of him.

After Trump beat failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton by an electoral college landslide, it was revealed Trump spent way less than Hillary to win the White House. According to a report, Clinton took in about $1 billion, while Trump took in about $600 million.

Trump also successfully managed to earn over $5.6 billion in free earned media during his 2016 presidential campaign, more than any other candidate combined.

Since then, the mainstream media has been doing everything they can to defeat Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. However, they repeatedly run into the same problem - no one brings ratings like Donald Trump. The mainstream media has gotten desperate and is now trying to prop up other Republican 2024 presidential candidates like absentee Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and failed New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

When President Trump gifted CNN with a town hall in May, their ratings skyrocketed and beat all other cable news rivals. CNN’s Trump town hall came first with 3.3 million viewers, compared to Fox News’ 1.45 million viewers and MSNBC’s 1.4 million viewers.

Just two days after Trump’s town hall, CNN’s ratings plummeted to fourth place with only 355,000 viewers. CNN is not alone. Fox News has lost one-third of its primetime audience since the firing of its pro-Trump host Tucker Carlson.

In October 2022, The Washington Post published a story begging to “Not Cover” Trump if he runs again. Sadly for The Washington Post, nicknamed “The Washington Compost” by Trump, they have lost a devastating 500,000 subscribers since Trump left office, and their CEO is even considering selling part of its tech business.

One thing is for sure - the mainstream media needs Trump to survive. This must be music to President Trump’s ears, who in 2017 said, “Newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there. Because without me, their ratings are going down the tubes.”
