Democrat Congressman Dean Phillips Calls On NY Gov Hochul to Pardon Trump - 'It's Energizing His Base'

Last week, former 2024 Democrat presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) called on Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) to pardon Donald J. Trump following his 'guilty' conviction in the Manhattan hush-money case, citing the energy the verdict has given to his base of 'MAGA' patriots. "Donald Trump is a serial liar, cheater, and philanderer, a six-time declarer of corporate bankruptcy, an instigator of insurrection, and a convicted felon who thrives on portraying himself as a victim. [Gov. Kathy Hochul] should pardon him for the good of the country," Phillips stated in a viral X post.

Of course, Congressman Dean Phillip's reasoning is not sound; Trump is a patriot who has worked for the good of this great nation, which is more than can be said for most of the Democrats in Congress. Nonetheless, Phillips continued his remarks, adding, "You think pardoning is stupid? Making him a martyr over a payment to a porn star is stupid. (Election charges are entirely different.) It's energizing his base, generating record sums of campaign cash, and will likely result in an electoral boost."

These remarks could very well come to fruition. After all, even if there are other legitimate charges against Trump - and no competent charges exist against the 45th president - the absurdity of the hush money case absolutely delegitimizes the rest of the cases against him. Moreover, according to Republican National Committee co-chair Laura Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee raised nearly $70 million in 48 hours following the guilty verdict, as millions of Americans rallied around President Trump and his patriotic 'MAGA' agenda, an agenda that works for America and her people.

Fortunately for voters who respect the rule of law in America, Donald J. Trump remains a potent force to win the presidency in 2024. In recent months, the Real Clear Politics polling average has Donald Trump besting Joe Biden in nationwide polling, even though Republican presidential candidates can generally afford to underperform in the popular vote while still winning the election—as they did in 2000 and 2016.

The potential for Republicans in 2024 is limitless if they effectively communicate their agenda and critique the Biden administration's 'America Last' policies. The future of our nation may very well depend on it. This means uniting around an agenda that resonates with Americans, one that champions life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all -- and that means Trump having his life and liberty to lead us into greatness.
