DeSantis Creates New Freedom-Loving Guidelines for His State

For the most part, those who live in Florida have been enjoying their freedom. With no state mandates regarding mask usage and no vaccine mandates, Floridians have been able to freely decide what’s best for them. The only problem is that employees have, continually, been forced to mask while on the job.

Last week, DeSantis commented on the fact that some employers are forcing their employees to wear masks saying, “Any of these big companies that are running these hotels or resorts, LIBERATE your employees from forced masking requirements.” This Thursday, he took action on the issue alongside his Surgeon General, Dr. Joseph Latapo.

According to the press release, this new guidance is called “Buck the CDC”.  It will change the isolation period for those with Covid-19, encourage health care practitioners to care for their patients as they see fit, and advise against forced masking. According to Dr. Ladapo,  “The State of Florida has widespread natural and vaccine-induced immunity. Evidence suggests that most secondary transmission occurs early on. Our state will continue to make decisions for Floridians rooted in sound science, not fear, whether they are working or in school.”

Florida will now be advocating for mask-free work environments. According to the press release, “Unlike CDC guidance, Florida’s new masking guidance advises against wearing facial coverings in a community setting… This guidance makes clear that all employees at a corporation should not be forced to wear a mask while at work. The guidance recognizes that there are millions of employees in Florida working in industries from hospitality to manufacturing to banking who for no reason whatsoever have been forced to wear a mask at work.” This is a huge victory for employees!

Florida also changed the “isolation” requirements for those with Covid-19 to 5 days. This will help individuals get back to their jobs and daily lives much sooner. These new “isolation” requirements apply to everyone including young children in preschool and grade school. It’s safe to say that this pandemic has unfairly affected children and made their daily lives difficult. The new guidance also makes clear that parents should have the right to decide whether their child needs to wear a mask to school or not.

It’s also promoting freedom of choice when it comes to Covid-19 treatments. According to the new guidelines, health care practitioners are encouraged to treat their patients as they see fit, including off-label prescriptions when desired. The guidance is merely reiterating that, with patient consent, the doctor can prescribe what is best for the patient.

These are huge wins for the state of Florida, and hopefully less courageous Republican Governors will follow in his footsteps like they often do! Once again, Ron DeSantis makes the charge towards liberty.
