On Wednesday, presumptive Republican nominee Donald J. Trump went after independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. -- labeling him the "Most Radical Left Candidate in the race," as well as a fringe supporter of the Leftist "Green New Deal."
"RFK Jr. is the most Radical Left Candidate in the race, by far. He's a big fan of the Green New Scam, and other economy killing disasters," Donald Trump posted. "I guess this would mean he is going to be taking votes from Crooked Joe Biden, which would be a great service to America," the 45th president added. Donald Trump is no doubt correct -- the Green New Deal is disastrous, and it is shocking that any patriot would knowingly throw his support behind it. We, the people, demand better from our presidential candidates after all, and it is good that Trump is holding Kennedy Jr.'s feet to the fire. During a 2020 interview with Yahoo News, Robert F. Kennedy Jr threw his support behind the Green New Deal, saying, "I think the Green New Deal — and all that stuff — is important. We ought to be pursuing it. My approach is more market-based than kind of top-down dictates. You know, I believe that we should use market mechanisms like carbon taxes and the elimination of subsidies."
This comes after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his vice president pick on Tuesday, choosing Silicon Valley lawyer Nicole Shanahan, who, as Daily Caller previously reported, "shared his views on health, censorship, immigration and more." Trump challenged the wisdom of that pick, saying, "His running mate, Nicole Shanahan, is even more 'Liberal' than him, if that's possible. Kennedy is a Radical Left Democrat, and always will be!!!" Trump then speculated that the Far Left would not let Robert F. Kennedy on the ballot, although he argued that this would only help the Trump 2024 campaign. "It's great for MAGA, but the Communists will make it very hard for him to get on the Ballot. Expect him, and her, to be indicted any day now, probably for Environmental Fraud," Trump added.
Thus far, there is some wisdom in Donald J. Trump's assessment, given the state of the polls -- the inclusion of independent candidates has only increased Trump's polling edge over Joseph R. Biden. While Trump has a 1.6-point advantage over Joe Biden in a hypothetical one-on-one matchup, that lead increases to 2.3 percent when independent or third-party candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr are included in the polls, which spells bad news for Biden and the Radical Left.
