Following The Injury Of Star Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick Contacts The Jets In Bizarre Stunt - 'I Just Need A Shot'

Following the injury of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Monday night football, disgraced former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's agent reportedly contacted the New York Jets to see if they needed the services of the NFL veteran. Kaepernick, who has not played in the NFL since 2016, is infamous for his decision to kneel for the national anthem repeatedly. Following that decision, he has not made his way onto any NFL roster despite frequently attempting to do so.

NFL insider Jordan Schulz tweeted, "I just spoke with Colin Kaepernick, who tells me his agent has reached out to the #Jets about his desire to make an NFL return. Kaepernick remains on the West Coast working out."

Schulz followed up this tweet by posting, "Just received this text from Colin Kaepernick: 'I just need a shot.'"

This comes after Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on Monday -- devastating injury to one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. As such, Rodgers has been marked out for the season, forcing the Jets to reevaluate their quarterback depth. This season marks Rodgers's first season with the New York Jets, after an extended 15-year run with the Green Bay Packers, during which he won one NFL title.

Nonetheless, it appears that the desire for Kaernick to play for the Jets is not mutual. NFL insider Josina Anderson tweeted that, "The #Jets are not pursuing Colin Kaepernick to address their immediate need for QB depth. I’m told they’ll look to at least narrow down their options today. The current* mindset is to bring a QB in who fits the chemistry of Zach Wilson being the guy, & knows system &/or staff."

This is not the first time Kaepernick has told the media that he wants to make a comeback. As Fox News previously reported, "The last time Kaepernick appeared to come close to making a football comeback was in 2019, when the league planned a private workout at the Atlanta Falcons' training center. The workout was essentially scuttled when Kaepernick changed the venue at the last minute. The NFL then listed him as a no-show, but Kaepernick did have a workout at a high school about 44 miles from the Falcons' headquarters."

Kaepernick's behavior on the field is shameful, and the lack of respect he has shown our nation is truly disgusting. Nonetheless, if the NFL truly thought his on-field play was worth the value of his sideline antics, they would no doubt sign him. The NFL has already offered its evaluation, and it is not in favor of the former San Fransisco 49ers quarterback.
