John O. Brennan, former head of the CIA under President Obama, testified before Congress on Thursday about the October 2020 letter that accused the Hunter Biden laptop expose of bearing "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation" which he was a signatory to. The contents of the laptop turned out to be authentic and so far no such Russian disinformation operation has been proven.
Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary and Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, appeared before Fox News host Jesse Water and told him that the former CIA director's testimony under oath during a four-hour interview "further confirmed that this thing was all political."
Chairman Jordan then proceeded to cover the history behind the letter. He said that "Understand that Tony Blinken first contacts Mike Morell and says 'oh, what do you think about this laptop issue?' and then Blinken later that same day, October 17th, 2022, send Mike Morell the USA TODAY article story. That story gets put in the very letter that John Brennan, Mike Morell, and 49 other former intel officials sign on to and they again did not sign on as Mike Morell- private citizen exercising his First Amendment rights; John Brennan-private citizen. They signed on as former acting director of the CIA, former head of the CIA. They used their titles...Mr. Goldman [D-NY] talked about public servants- we expect public servants not to use their title to influence an election."
He added that "it was so political that when it was all [have] done this talking point they wanted to give Joe Biden for that final debate with President Trump...that after the final debate...the campaign call up Mr. Morell thanks him for it. He gets an attaboy from...the chairman of the Biden campaign. This [the Brennan's tesitmony] further confirmed all that."
Representative Jordan then pivoted to talking about how the CIA review board also played a role in the dissemination of the letter for it to gather signatures.
Anthony Blinken, the man in contact with Mr. Morell, profited greatly from a Biden victory and is now the Secretary of State. According to the Washington Examiner, at least 11 signatories of the infamous letter have frequented the White House 24 times from October 2021 to January 2023. As one former high-ranking White House official under Trump and Biden remarked "Everyone who signed that letter had something to gain...They’ve washed themselves with the ability to say they were nonpartisan." Three of the signatories of the letter were employed in high-ranking adminstrative posts in the Biden administration.
