After the long and strenuous 11-day long Secret Service investigation into the cocaine that was found in the West Wing of the White House over the Fourth of July weekend ended up producing no suspects, former federal investigators are calling into question the legitimacy of the actual investigation itself.
On Thursday, the Secret Service announced that they would not be able to find the perpetrator responsible for bringing cocaine into the West Wing of the White House, as previously covered by the DC Enquirer. It was also found in a classified briefing that was given to members of Congress that this isn’t the first illicit substance that has been found in the White House during the Biden administration, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
Ex-agents of the Secret Service spoke with the New York Post about their doubts about the seriousness of the investigation surrounding the drug discovery.
“This is a cover-up. How can they say they have no leads?” one ex-agent said. “It is a restricted area and they have a log book, you don’t have to be Columbo to figure out who was there.”
Another former agent pointed out the discrepancy between the Biden administration and the Trump administration, saying, “We have a tale of two countries. They identified hundreds of people who were in the Capitol building on Jan. 6 after an extensive investigation, but they don’t know who left something in an 8 x 10 room in the White House?”
The Secret Service pointed to a lack of physical evidence as the reason behind ending their investigation, as the forensics were unable to recover any fingerprint or DNA evidence from the scene. Supposedly, there are also no cameras located in the area due to the amount of confidential materials that pass through it, also removing that possibility.
Of course, it’s not just members of the Secret Service that are finding issues with the end of the investigation. Many notable members of Congress have called out the unwillingness of the White House to further pursue any leads they have.
"My question to them was, have they drug tested this list of 500 potential suspects that brought an illegal substance, cocaine, into the White House?" Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said. "Their answer was no, and that they're unwilling to do so. It makes no sense to me whatsoever why they wouldn't follow through one simple task."
“I was informed in this morning's SCIF meeting that the Cocaine Culprit investigation will be terminated with more than 500 potential perpetrators remaining,” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) tweeted. “We cannot allow this to happen. The American people deserve to know who smuggled cocaine into the White House!”
While the Secret Service may be done with the investigation, many Americans and members of the government still have questions. Something doesn’t add up when one of the most secure places in the nation somehow can have cocaine found in it with no perp attached to it.
