'Wokeness Divides Americans': House Republicans Launch Effort To Defund The Pelosi-Created Office Of 'Diversity and Inclusion'

On Wednesday, House Republicans pushed forward the 2024 Legislative Branch Appropriation Bill, which would effectively defund the 'House Office of Diversity and Inclusion.'

"The House of Representatives is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce," the office's description reads. "In one of the first acts of the 116th Congress, the House established the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. ODI’s mission is to foster diversity among House employing offices, so that the House workforce reflects the diversity of America."

House Democrats established the office after they gained a majority in the House of Representatives in 2019. In 2020, Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) explained, “The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, an initiative included in the House Rules package passed at the outset of the 116th, will formulate a diversity plan for the House of Representatives, including policies to guide House offices in improving the recruitment, retention, and development of a diverse workforce."

"The Office will also act as a resource for House employing offices and increase awareness of diversity issues among Congressional staff. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is an independent and nonpartisan office," Pelosi continued.

The Republican-led bill "supports planned reorganization of the Chief Administrative Office, including restructuring functions of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, saving millions of taxpayer dollars."

As Breitbart previously reported, Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN) said of the bill, "DEI offices have no place in Congress or the rest of the federal government... I’m glad that Republicans on the Legislative Branch Subcommittee agreed with our letter and defunded House Office of Diversity and Inclusion. It is a good start, and the Anti-Woke Caucus is calling on all Republican appropriators to follow their lead and defund DEI programs in every federal agency."

Banks added, "Wokeness divides Americans by race, gender, and sexual orientation and deems so-called 'oppressors' responsible for all current inequality and suffering. It is the belief that America’s prosperity and success are built on past misdeeds. It seeks to replace the legal equality guaranteed by our Constitution with government-mandated equity, or equal outcome."

Wokeness is tearing America into pieces. While the Republican party is not for oppression, the Democrats are no friend of the American people here. They would like to shackle Americans in the mental handcuffs of their destructive ideology. But fortunately for Americans, MAGA Republicans are taking action to protect our values.
