'I Stand With Daniel Penny' - High-Profile Marine Vets Come To The Defense Of Daniel Penny

On Tuesday, several high-profile former Marines defended fellow-Marine veteran Daniel Penny, who is being charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of mentally-ill homeless man Jordan Neely, who was accused of threatening passengers aboard a New York F Train.

"The same broken corrupt system that failed this mentally ill individual is now failing to protect a hero that simply was trying to stop the aggression and threats to protect innocent people," Marine veteran and filmmaker Victor Marx said, as previously reported by Fox News Digital. "He had no intent to kill or even injure the attacker, it’s unfortunate that death occurred as a result of a good Samaritan’s desire to protect people. Semper Fi, brother, you will be exonerated and freed."

Penny was arraigned last week after radical liberal Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg decided to charge him with second-degree manslaughter -- even with all the controversy surrounding the case. The New York Post previously reported Neely had been "acting erratically and threatening passengers on board a northbound F train just before 2:30 p.m. Monday when another rider intervened to stop him." In response to this, Alvin Bragg, the same district attorney who indicted President Trump earlier this year, brought charges against Penny.

In turn, Marine veteran and author Stuart Scheller concurred with Victor Marx's assessment, adding, "I stand with Daniel Penny. The only thing evil needs is for good people to do nothing. A career criminal threatened a woman in an enclosed space. A Marine made a courageous decision to help. The outcome was unfortunate, but Penny’s critics are the same people who would never defend a woman in need. Daniel Penny is my hero."

While Neely's death has generated considerable backlash, it has also generated ample public support. To date, Daniel Penny has amassed over $2.6 million for his defense fund on the Christian Crowdfunding site 'GiveSendGo.'

"Daniel Penny is, a twenty-four-year-old college student and decorated Marine veteran, facing a criminal investigation stemming from him protecting individuals on a NYC subway train from an assailant who later died. Funds are being raised to pay Mr. Penny’s legal fees incurred from any criminal charges filed and any future civil lawsuits that may arise, as well as expenses related to his defense," Penny's funding page reads

This is a significant update in a story that is stirring a national conversation as Americans of all stripes debate the case's merits.
