'Money Always Gets People's Attention': Jim Jordan Takes Action To Punish The FBI And DOJ For Durham Report Revelations

Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chairman of the House Committee on the Judiciary and Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, told Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures that he is working on ways to limit congressional funding to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and that the appropriations process is underway. The Republican chairman promised a reckoning for these politicized agencies.

During that interview, he was pressed about the FBI whistleblowers and his takeaways from the hearings from his committees. Representative Jordan responded that the big takeaway was from the Durham report stated, "the FBI had no probable cause, no predicate, no evidence whatsoever, and yet they launch into an investigation of President Trump and his [2016] campaign...then we learn from Fox and other outlets reporting that 278,000 times the FBI abused Americans' rights...and searched the FISA database and then, of course, we had these whistleblowers who tell us about the retaliation they are getting from the FBI for simply telling Congress...[about] the wrongdoing that was going on."

The host then asked the Congressman, "What are you going to do about it?" The Ohio lawmaker replied, "In the end money always gets people's attention...what we are going to have to do is say 'hey, FBI you can't federal tax dollars...for this kind of activity. We got to limit how they spend that money."

The Congressman mentioned slashing the FBI's construction budget as one possible step to take. The power of the purse, declared Mr. Jordan, must be exercised with the aim of "limit[ing] what the federal government- the FBI and Justice Department- are doing to the American people."

The host asked if this process was underway now and when will the public see this. Jordan said Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) and the GOP members have committed themselves to "all 12 appropriations bills that fund the government over the next several months. The first one will be coming up in a couple weeks. We have been meeting with the appropriations staff- our staff-...to work on how we can limit money...being used in these ways and deal with the overall budget that the FBI and DOJ is recieving." The first such bill, Jim Jordan predicts, will happen after the Memorial Day recess.

Jim Jordan also reiterated on Twitter that these actions go beyond just what happened to Trump since "If they can spy on a president, political campaign, and protestors, then they can spy on you."
