White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has been under fire after making the outrageous comparison of raising the debt ceiling to a monthly car payment in a failed attempt to relate to the American people.
During the Monday press conference, Jean-Pierre received a question on the upcoming meeting between President Biden and congressional leaders regarding the looming debt ceiling fight and potential budget cuts.
Jean-Pierre responded to these concerns, saying “If you buy a car, you are expected to pay the monthly payments. If you buy a home, you are to pay the mortgage every month. That is the expectation. That is the spending that you put forth or spending that you may have done before. And now you’re playing every month. If you do not pay your car payment, if you do not pay your mortgage payment, then your credit is going to be bad. It’s going to hurt your credit,” per the press conference.
Even aside from the ridiculous comparison that Jean-Pierre made, many people also brought up the incredible hypocrisy in the statement as the Biden administration works to pay off student loan debts. Twitter immediately saw this contradiction as well, and tweets began to pour in bashing on the blatant hypocrisy. Tweets such as “Just like student loans?” and “Welcome to our feeling about student loans.” began to pour into the replies of a tweet sharing the press conference.
Jean-Pierre says “So let’s look at Congress for a second. This is spending that they’ve already done. They’ve already spent. Let’s not forget the $2 trillion Trump tax cut that they were willing and happy to vote for. So we’re telling them or saying to them, do your job, pay for something that you’ve already spent on. That’s it. That is spending that has already occurred.”
Her attempt to rail on Trump's $2 trillion tax cut is particularly unbelievable, considering the move kept money in the pockets of American citizens while the Biden White House attempted to pass the ‘Build Back Better Act’ that would cost upwards of $1.7 trillion in deficit spending, per Forbes.
The Biden administration has worsened inflation leading to Americans losing thousands of dollars a year. The White House press secretary's attempt to attack Trump and Congress for wanting to curb Democrats' unholy spending numbers proves that the Biden administration and Jean-Pierre are clearly removed from reality to think this problem is anyone's fault but their own.

After her utterly inept statement, Jean-Pierre then turned her criticism towards Congress and its hesitation to raise the debt ceiling without making spending cuts.Just like student loans?
