Dean Philips (D-MN), the co-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communication Committee, expressed concern over an uncompetitive Democratic presidential primary for the 2024 election according to Just The News. Mr. Philips claimed that this was “not a knock on Joe Biden, just a wish for competition” while noting that “In the business world if the dominant brand in a category had favorability ratings like the current president does, you would see a number of established brands jump into that category.” Philips went further when he said, “Believe me, there are literally hundreds in Congress who would say the same thing. But they simply won’t f****** say a word.”
The 80-year-old president, who has not formally announced his intent to be reelected to the office again in 2024, has a poor showing in the polls. As noted by the DC Enquirer, “Three months have elapsed since those words were uttered [that Biden wants to run but is holding off a formal announcement] and Biden has still not made the decision whether to run.” The current rumor is that even with mounting inter-party frustration over the lack of a decision Biden may announce in April.
As noted by the same article a plan B is developing if Biden chooses not to run. Names have been flouted like Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL), Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Governor Phil Murphy (D-NJ), Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) as potential replacements for Joe Biden.

Still, if Biden does run many polls show him losing to Donald Trump, his Republican predecessor and a contender for the 2024 race. No Republican candidate for the high office has managed to get the majority (or plurality) of votes since 2004. As one pollster, Rich Baris, remarked in an interview with Platform Mag “If Trump wins in a popular vote” which a year ago he thought “was impossible. I really never did believe it.”
Mr. Baris further added that “no Republican has led consistently like this since maybe Richard Nixon in his reelection bid [in 1972].” He also noted that “I think a Trump-DeSantis ticket at this point looks unbeatable. We have polled Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and Elizabeth Warren- nobody can touch him. He is way ahead.”
Biden for his part says that he doesn’t believe the polls. Such a similar sentiment when uttered by Donald Trump was a great cause for concern among liberal media. A commentator with CNN said about the matter, ‘Because Trump lacks any sort of compunction about lying, he feels totally comfortable saying whatever he wants to say about polling. And as he has repeatedly admitted, any time there’s a poll that doesn’t fit Trump’s worldview, he simply says it’s ‘fake.’” Et tu, Biden?
