Newt Gingrich: Georgia DA Willis Was Ordered To Indict Trump By Washington - 'We Have To Cover Up All The Mistakes We Made With Weiss'

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich revealed during an interview on Salem Radio's 'Charlie Kirk Show' Thursday information that Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis was reportedly ordered by an undisclosed Washington, D.C. official in a position of power to rush the indictment of 45th President Donald J. Trump and 18 of his legal team and staff on Monday night regardless of the difficulties this would cause.

This was reportedly done to distract attention away from the appointment of U.S. Attorney David Weiss by Attorney General Merrick Garland as special counsel investigating the allegations surrounding Hunter Biden.

Gingrich told Kirk,
 

"I am told, this is hearsay, but I'm told by a reliable source that Friday evening, somebody from Washington called the district attorney in Atlanta and said, 'You have to indict on Monday.'"

The former speaker of the House indicated a conspiratorial cause for the rush saying the unknown contact told Willis: "We have to cover up all of the mistakes we just made with Weiss," suggesting that the unidentified caller was either in the Department of Justice or the Biden White House.

He then described a tense back and forth between them, "And she said, apparently, 'my jurors aren't coming back till Tuesday.' And they said, 'You didn't hear me, you have to indict on Monday.' And she said, 'We're not gonna get here before noon.' They said, 'It doesn't matter.' She said 'This, this means it's gonna be eight or nine or 10 o'clock at night.' They said 'It doesn't matter. We need the news media shifting.'" 

Kirk asked Gingrich "So who made that phone call?" To which the speaker emeritus answered, "We don't know. And I'm, and I'm telling you upfront, this is hearsay, but it's from a person who has remarkably good sources."

During the same interview, Gingrich reiterated the concern he shared with Fox News' Sean Hannity as previously reported by DC Enquirer,

"This is the most serious drift toward a constitutional crisis since the 1850s which led to the Civil War. No one should underestimate how deep and how serious this crisis is."

When Kirk, noting Gingrich's knowledge as a historian, asked about assertions from other politicos and the donor class that this situation would "sort itself out," Gingrich gave an interesting response.

He explained, "As a historian, I've written novels about Washington and the Revolutionary War, I've written novels about the Civil War. And my answer is yeah it may 'sort itself out.' Uh, Washington took 2,500 men across the Deleware on Christmas night to help 'sort out' the American Revolution. Uh, Lincoln went to Gettysburg and gave his Gettysburg address at the first national military cemetery where our largest battle had been fought with about 100,000 men on each side to 'sort it out.'"

"Things don't just 'sort themselves out' because, you know, this is not a PTA meeting, this is not a Rotary Club meeting. This is a struggle for power in the most complex and biggest economy on the planet."
