Member Of The Squad Shows Her HYPOCRISY, Pushed For Rent Cancellation While Making Up To $100,000 In Rent Payments

Congressional Squad member, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), made around $100,000 in rent payments from a property in Detroit during the Coronavirus pandemic, while simultaneously pushing for an eviction moratorium which would restrict landlords from collecting rent.

In a seemingly hypocritical move, the far-left lawmaker had cosponsored a bill written by fellow squad radical, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) — The Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act – in 2020 and 2021. It was also worked on by her other fellow progressive members, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) and would cancel rent and mortgage payments, through the duration of the pandemic.

While Tlaib pushed the bill, however, she accumulated between $15,001 and $50,000 in rental income, according to her 2021 financial disclosure form per Fox News.

“There is no contradiction between advocating for an eviction moratorium and rental relief and having a great relationship with a long-term tenant in a single rental home,” a spokesperson for the Tlaib told The Detroit News.

“Rep. Tlaib is an unwavering advocate for tenants, has worked to get rental assistance out to landlords to keep people housed, and remains focused on advocating for residents during this pandemic,” she explained.

“Michigan Rising Action” Executive Director Eric Ventimiglia argued Tlaib’s receipt of rental income is an “insult to every landlord who is unable to collect rent from tenants to make ends meet.”

During the bill’s introduction, Tlaib tweeted: “I’m joining Rep. Ilhan Omar and fellow colleagues for a press conference on the Rent & Mortgage Cancellation Act. Our residents need help during this ongoing pandemic & this legislation seeks to provide that help to ensure our neighbors have the housing they need.”

Another member of the liberal squad has also been caught collecting rent while pushing for rent cancellation legislation.  Pressley and her husband collected $5,000 to $15,000 in rent from a Boston property during 2020, Fox News reported.

As Americans across the country struggled during the pandemic and progressive representatives attempted to push a radical bill that would restrict the ability of landlords to collect rent, these same progressives were — in their own language — exploiting renters.

Once again, the hypocrisy of D.C. is showcased as representatives who constantly complain about American capitalism are actually some of the best at benefiting from its system.

Despite all this, they push policies which undermine others’ ability to do as they do, embracing the idea of, one rule for the leaders and another for the People.
