During a Thursday appearance on the 'Dinesh D'Souza Podcast', Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) took a courageous stand for the rights of children -- arguing anyone who seeks to surgically mutilate a child should face jail time.
"We also did a bill... to criminalize the mutilation of minors, who are undergoing these sex change operations, by these really rogue ideological physicians," DeSantis began. "We have had heartbreaking testimony from people who have gone through this when they were minors -- now they are adults. And this is something they are now having to overcome, really for the rest of their lives because irreversible changes were made."
As Fox News Digital previously reported, "Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed several new bills into law Wednesday, including a ban on transgender treatments for children and legislation regarding the use of pronouns in schools."
DeSantis continued, saying, "We banned this administratively last year through our medical board, so if a medical doctor did this, they lose the license in Florida which is appropriate. We felt you had to do more. I mean, if you are taking off the private parts of a fifteen-year-old kid, you should go to jail for that."
DeSantis then turned to other legislation he implemented in Florida, including a bill that allowed patients to sue doctors who medically transitioned them.
"That is just totally unacceptable. One of the things we did in that bill thought was we gave the victims the ability to sue the physicians. So if you have gone through this as a sixteen-year-old or a fifteen-year-old and now you are twenty-four or twenty-five, and you have all this irreversible damage, you bring suit against them, because they violated the Hippocratic oath. They put their ideology above evidence-based medicine. And we just think that is fundamentally wrong in the state of Florida," DeSantis remarked
This is not the first time DeSantis has weighed in on the issue. In August of 2022, he said, "They don't tell you what that is...they are actually giving very young girls double mastectomies, they want to castrate these young boys ... that's wrong and so we've stood up and said both from the health and children well-being perspective, you don't disfigure 10-, 12-, 13-year-old kids based on gender dysphoria. Eighty percent of it resolves anyways by the time they get older...I think these doctors need to get sued for what's happening."
The American people demand action here. Our children are worth protecting.
