On Tuesday, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) blasted the Biden administration after Department of Justice (DoJ) Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted 45th President and leading Republican presidential contender Donald J. Trump yet again -- this time for January 6th related charges.
“Joe Biden is indicting Donald Trump (again) because he’s losing in this presidential race. He would rather throw Donald Trump in prison than face him at the ballot box,” Senator Vance said in a statement, as previously reported by the Washington Examiner.
“The credibility of the American legal system is being attacked because Biden is afraid of facing the consequences of his disastrous policies," the statement continued. "Luckily, the American people get a say, and when they reelect Donald Trump, it will be time to clean house at the Department of Justice.”
Trump is the leading Republican presidential contender and remains a potent force to win the presidency in 2024. The Real Clear Politics polling average has Biden and Trump neck and neck in most surveys. As such, it stands to reason that the Democrats would use any means necessary to gain a much-needed political advantage -- including indicting their most-likely political opponent. The opportunism of the Democratic Party is disgusting, and we, the people, deserve better than we have gotten from the DoJ thus far.
Vance has long been an ally of the 45th President and endorsed Donald J. Trump remarkably early in the race. Indeed, as a result of Vance's loyalty to patriots all over America, the Ohio senator vowed to stall Justice Department nominations after Jack Smith charged Trump concerning the document case.
"The Biden administration is not sending its best to the Department of Justice.... the problem is the fact that the Department of Justice has been corrupted under the Biden administration, and there needs to be some reckoning with the American people and with this body and with the nominations process before we allow these nominees to glide path to the confirmation process," Vance said in a statement.
Vance continued, adding, "This [the Trump indictment] is a ridiculous scandal in our entire country... we have to stop giving these nominees the glide path until Merrick Garland commits to using the Department of Justice for justice and not for politics as it’s being used today.”
Vance is exactly correct. The Justice Department is behaving in a manner unbecoming of an impartial and tax-funded institution. Republicans in both the House and the Senate must fight tooth and nail to hold all our agencies -- no matter their renown -- accountable for their wrongs. For they are not just wronging citizens; they are wronging their employers. After all, bureaucrats and politicians, no matter their status are little more than public servants, and as public servants, they work for us, the people.
