On Friday, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) launched a new initiative to keep former Governor and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley (R-SC) from gaining the coveted GOP presidential nomination. While Rand Paul failed to endorse any of the three high-profile remaining Republican competitors, the Kentucky senator contends a Nikki Haley presidency is far too dangerous to take seriously -- given both her presidential agenda and her personal record.
"I've been watching the GOP Primary closely for a while now, and I like various aspects of several candidates - Republicans like President [Donald Trump], Governor [Ron DeSantis], and [Vivek Ramaswamy]," Paul tweeted, linking a video where he focused on his relationship with leading Republican presidential contender Donald J. Trump. Paul also mentioned his high regard for Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis, even expressing interest in certain ideas of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
However, Paul maintains Haley's hawkish foreign policy is too dangerous for America heading into 2024, as is her big-government conservatism. As such, Senator Paul launched a new website -- https://nevernikki.net/ -- to hold the former South Carolina governor accountable. For context, Senator Paul has been one of the most influential figures in the non-interventionalist wing of the Republican Party, so his eventual endorsement could shape the 2024 White House race. The Kentucky senator takes after his father, former Texas Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), who has been the leading proponent for a more libertarian-minded vision for the Party of Lincoln.
Resultantly, Senator Paul added in a follow-up tweet, "Based on her record and campaign, I don't see how any thoughtful or informed libertarian or conservative should vote for [Nikki Haley]. If you agree, let your voice be heard." Paul then linked to a series of Haley's biggest blunders -- including an initiative to register every Twitter poster to a unique ID. These blunders have hurt Haley as she seeks to overtake Trump in the 2024 Republican race -- a prospect that seems increasingly more unlikely with each passing day.
Paul is not the only high-profile Republican to go after Haley in recent days. Last week, the President Trump attacked Haley's record in front of an Iowa crowd, saying, "Nikki would grant amnesty to Biden's illegal aliens in her very first week. And, sadly, the establishment losers and sell-outs lagging far behind us in the Republican primary cannot be trusted on taxes, trade, or anything else."
"Like they betrayed me, they're gonna betray you," Trump concluded his remarks, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
