'Shockingly Rude': Democrats Go Into Damage Control Following Kamala Harris' Disastrous Interview With Bret Baier

Following Vice President Kamala Harris' disastrous interview with Fox News host Bret Baier on Wednesday, Democrat strategists and Harris campaign officials went into damage control to try to explain away the vice president's visible anger during various segments of the interview and her inability to answer questions directly. Former top advisor to Kamala Harris and MSNBC host Symone Sanders went on to attack Bret Baier for being "rude" and "misleading" since he pushed back on Harris throughout the 25-minute interview.

"But on the tone, I have sat in the room for a number of interviews with VP Harris and they have been tough. I’ve never witnessed what I witnessed tonight though. The interviewer wasn’t themselves - instead he was rude, misleading and pulled questions straight out of a proverbial Trump/Vance press release," Sanders wrote on X. "The best part is, VP’s response was simply to match his energy, stick to her why of the interview and not take the bait. <— this is what a President would do."

Other left-wing commentators had similar comments about the interview or about Baier's performance with MSNBC host Joe Scarborough writing, "Yep. He was shockingly rude." Senior Harris campaign advisor David Plouffe stated that the interview was an "ambush" and that Harris was able to perform far better than 45th President Donald Trump at a recent town hall turned impromptu concern, an attack that has been dubunked. "Kamala Harris (strong) handled an ambush Fox interview light years better than the hash Donald Trump (unstable) made of the Fox pep rally disguised as a town hall," Plouffe wrote

Former Obama staffer and Pod Save America host Jon Favreau praised Harris' performance in the combative interview and explained that she stood her ground.  "Honestly - great interview. Kamala was sharp, tough, and gave her best answers yet to some of the thornier questions she's been asked before. Combative interviews can be good. Going on Fox can be good. You just have to be prepared (she was) and stand your ground (she did!)."

While Democrats attempted to blame Baier's tough questions for the vice president's performance or outright ignore her bad moments, conservative commentators said that the Harris interview could be the beginning of the end for her campaign. "Kamala Harris is the most unimpressive presidential candidate in American history," Daily Wire host Matt Walsh wrote. Commentator Ben Shapiro pointed out the Harris shows disdain when asked tough questions about her record. "It's not just that Harris is foolish or incoherent. It's the sneering disdain with which she treats even the possibility of having to answer questions or run a campaign," Shapiro wrote. "She was handed her vice presidency. Now she expects to simply be handed the presidency."
