'Sound of Freedom' actor Jim Caviezel, best known for his role in 'Passion of the Christ', sat down with Fox News Digital this week to discuss the role of Christianity in today's society, explaining that the Christian faith is under attack.
"The problem is that modern-day Christianity has become so weak and useless," Caviezel explained to Fox News Digital. "I mean, modern-day Christians are more afraid of the devil than they are of God. God could destroy the devil without a glance, but he looks to us to make a decision."
The actor emphasized that Americans are rejecting God thus leading to the "moral decay" that has been witnessed in society over the past few years.
"So, you have moral depravity. I mean, moral decay everywhere, falling apart," the actor explained. "Laws don't mean anything anymore. We don't have a First Amendment…There's no such thing as free speech anymore. You're absolutely destroyed everywhere, and the media throws out everybody's a racist."
Caviezel decided to join 'Sound of Freedom' because he chooses films where there is "moral redemption" that allowed him to bring God's light into the theater.
"The purpose God gave me in this business, I wanted to bring his light. And it doesn't mean I'm always his light into an industry," the actor said. "And I wanted to do that, but it doesn't mean that I'm not going to play the devil in movies. Just there's got to be some sort of moral redemption."
"But the math is so wrong now," the 'Passion of the Christ actor added. "It just seems [the devil's] evil is winning right now."
"I may not have any friends around me when this is over, but I'll have [God]," Caviezel explained. "He won't leave me. I'll be looking at him at that point. When I do leave this earth, at least I gave the best I could from God, you know, and my Father in heaven. And I want the world to know I love him. And maybe that's evil to them. Not to me, but to them."
This isn't the first time that Caviezel has stood up to those in the entertainment industry that want to deemphasize God. As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, during the shooting of 'The Count of Monte Cristo', Caviezel was able to ensure that his character's faith played a major role in the film after Disney executives attempted to remove mention of God.
“When I did The Count of Monte Cristo, they wanted me to remove the ‘God’ from all of the script. True story,” Caviezel said. “So I had to make a decision. I’m not ashamed of God or anything but I’m in an embarrassing situation and I had to say ‘No, I can’t do this.' Right is right, wrong is wrong. For the love of my fellow countrymen, I cannot betray them.”
The movie star clearly is unlike any other actor in Hollywood and it is time for Americans everywhere to embrace faith in God and reject the moral decay that is seen in everyday life.
