The hit film 'Sound of Freedom' which swept theaters across America this summer is just getting started in the wider world after it dominated the box office throughout Latin America.
According to Breitbart, the film starring Jim Caviezel was able to take the top spot in theaters in 18 Latin American countries.
“The domestic box office performance on ‘SOUND OF FREEDOM’ has been an incredible success story, but some industry experts have argued our film would not be able to translate this success overseas,” Angel Studios' Chief Distribution Office Jared Geesey said, per The Daily Wire.
"We’re grateful to our fans for proving them wrong, and making us the number one movie in Latin America,” he added. “We’re seeing packed theaters, standing ovations, widespread enthusiasm, and strong word-of-mouth from Buenos Aires to Mexico City to Bogota to Caracas, Lima, and beyond.”
“We set a goal of reaching 2 million in advance ticket sales—which took a full week in the US—and reached that goal in just four days in Latin America,” Geesy continued. “This film is fast becoming a global movement for change.”
As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the movie is about the real-life child sex trafficking ring that exists throughout Latin America and the United States. The movie itself is based on the true story of Tim Ballard, a former CIA agent, who becomes frustrated only capturing people who watched child pornography in the United States and not catching those responsible for making the evil product.
According to Box Office Mojo, the film has garnered $182,579,452 after opening on July 4th in 2,852 theaters, notably far fewer theaters than the normal Hollywood production. After its initial success, the film's showings were expanded to 3,411 theaters. The film has also been able to bring in $2,403,192 at the international box office after various releases throughout the globe.
