The summer smash hit ‘Sound of Freedom’ has been consistently reigning supreme in box offices all across the country but specifically in more conservative states like Florida and Texas.
As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the movie is about the real-life child sex trafficking ring that exists throughout Latin America and the United States. The movie itself is based on the true story of Tim Ballard, a former CIA agent, who becomes frustrated only capturing people who watched child pornography in the United States and not catching those responsible for making the evil product.
The movie immediately upset the box office, managing to beat the highly-anticipated ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ on the movie's July 4th debut, where it raked in an impressive $15 million. The movie hasn’t seen sales quite the same as its opening day but has continued to gather impressive sales for a movie of its budget and release.
The current data on BoxOfficeMojo, which only goes to Tuesday, July 11th, shows the movie has made just shy of $50 million at the box office in 2,852 theaters. Larger-scale movies like the previously mentioned ‘Indy 5’ is being shown in up to 4,600 theaters, making the success of ‘Sound of Freedom’ all the more impressive compared to the Disney blockbuster.
The movie wasn’t able to maintain its number one status over the weekend as ‘Indy 5’ and ‘Insidious: The Red Door’ overtook it throughout the whole nation, but in more right-leaning states, the faith-driven movie has been able to maintain its top spot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a number of the top-ranking multiplexes in the nation such as those in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the Phoenix area kept ‘Sound of Freedom’ as its number one movie.
The success story of ‘Sound of Freedom’ has been an incredible one to follow. For a movie with a relatively low budget of $15 million to be able to become a nationwide phenomenon simply through word of mouth and a little bit of media attention here and there has been incredible. The movie goes to show that if there is a message that needs to be heard and is delivered in the right way, it can reach a much wider audience than anyone would have thought.

Be Advised: Actually, Tim Ballard worked for the government previously as DHS agent, not with the CIA as written in the Sound Of Freedom story.
