On Tuesday, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R-SD) said during an interview with South Dakota's KWAT that 45th President and leading Republican presidential contender Donald J. Trump is the only candidate with a 'path to victory' in the Republican primaries.
When asked if she would endorse a candidate, Noem told KWAT, as previously reported by National Review, "No, I do not think so."
"President Trump is in the race and right now I don’t see a path to victory for anybody else with him in the race and the situation as it sits today," Noem continued. "But I think people should saddle up — it could be a roller coaster of a presidential race ... I think it’ll be unprecedented in what we’ll see. There’s a lot of unknowns and the person who may win may not even be in the race yet.”
So far, Noem's comments seem to be on target. Poll after poll shows Trump's frontrunner status only being solidified as time goes on. Thus far, this is clearly President Trump's race to lose.
Noem did endorse Trump's 2020 White House run, saying during a 2020 speech to the Republican National Convention, "In just four years, President Trump has lifted people of all races and backgrounds out of poverty. He shrunk government. He put money back into the pockets of hardworking, ordinary Americans. He has advanced religious liberty. He protected the Second Amendment. You can look back 50 years, and you won’t find anyone that has surpassed President Trump’s success on these four issues alone."
Trump championed individual liberty -- and that means freedom in the realms of morality, spirituality, and fiscal responsibility. The American people are a free people, capable of determining their own destiny as a nation. It is not the job of the federal government to thrust a vision from the top down on our nation at large. Trump realized that and he fought long and hard to protect our rights.
"History chooses its heroes for the time in which they live. At our founding, Madison was one of the chosen," Noem continued. "When the nation’s very existence was challenged it was Lincoln’s turn. Thanks to these men, America is a land of hope. Their examples have been repeated in countless ways by simple Americans following their consciences. But, there is another American hero to be recognized. That is the common American."
"This is who President Trump is fighting for. He's fighting for you," Noem concluded.
