Romney Opponent Mayor Trent Staggs Reveals Why He Supports Trump's 2024 White House Run - Romney 'Just Does Not Get It'

During a Wednesday appearance on the 'Dinesh D'Souza Podcast,' Riverton, Utah, Mayor Trent Staggs (R-UT) explained to viewers why he endorsed President Trump's 2024 candidacy so early in the race. Staggs is running against RINO Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) in a 2024 bid to represent Utah in the United States Senate.

"I ran an op-ed that endorsed President Trump," Staggs told guest host Brandon Gill. "It was really somewhat of a counter to Romney's op-ed in The Wall Street Journal, where he was pleading donors to not fund a Trump plurality, in his view, and wanting everybody to ... gang up against Trump."

As Staggs notes, Romney attacked Trump in a July op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, telling Republican donors not to help fund a 'plurality.' Romney argued that donors have an obligation to help narrow the Republican field into a 'two-person race.'

Staggs continued, adding, "And I just thought, when I read that, I thought, 'here we go again.' People are looking at us Utahans, and they are rolling their eyes at Senator Romney. He just does not get it. He does not understand, why he is just not in favor with Utahns. He cares more about winning the appeal of CNN or people who did not vote for him in 2012 than he really cares about representing Utahns here."

Staggs concluded his interview by noting the 'stark' difference between the Trump and Biden administrations -- while the Biden administration is clearly inept, the Trump administration was most assuredly competent to the task. That competence is why Mayor Staggs supports the leading Republican presidential contender and 45th President Donald J. Trump.

Staggs endorsed Trump earlier this month, telling the Daily Caller that, "Since Joe Biden has been elected, we’ve seen crippling inflation domestically and turmoil abroad. Right now, as he weaponizes the Justice Department against his political opponents, we need a disruptor. We need someone who’s going to get things done. Donald Trump is the one candidate we don’t have to doubt what he’ll do because we’ve seen what he’s done."

“I like many long to have $2 gas and world peace again, so I’m proudly supporting the man who already delivered that, Donald Trump," Staggs added.

While Trump put America First, Biden continues to put America and her interests last. While Trump sought to make America great, Biden is tearing down our nation with his clear incompetence. Patriotic Americans must rally around conservative principles to win big in 2024.
