‘The Biggest Mysteries in TV News’: How Does Don Lemon Still Have A Job?

Apparently, CNN host Don Lemon is beyond the risk of being fired. Unlike other content creators, hosts, and journalists who live and die by ratings, video views, and pageviews, the walking PR nightmare is untouchable.

According to an article from Fox News, a CNN spokesman, responding to a recent Variety report packed with scandals and allegations centered around Lemon, called the claims “riddled with patently false anecdotes” and “based on unsourced, unsubstantiated, 15-year-old anonymous gossip.”

An anonymous media industry executive formerly with CNN reportedly revealed a lot to Fox News.

“Well before the Variety article appeared, it’s been one of the biggest mysteries in TV news why CNN keeps Don Lemon around. He rates poorly, he is a source of constant embarrassment and his new morning show is an unqualified disaster.”

The source continued, “Now his long history of degrading women has been laid bare.” Adding “What mysterious hold does he have over his bosses that explains his longevity?”

The outlet reported that another CNN insider told them employees still with CNN are baffled as to why Lemon is still on the payroll despite his numerous, damaging scandals.

One insider told Fox News, “There are plenty of people just as talented and popular with viewers that are not such a heavy lift.”

According to The Daily Mail, female CNN insiders are enraged that Lemon has been allowed to continue with the network.

“Don seems to be in a protected class, and he continues to get away with behavior that others wouldn’t,” one source referencing Lemon told The Mail. “A white straight male would have been fired.”

“He’s a minority in his race and sexuality… Don seems to be in a protected class, and he continues to get away with behavior that others wouldn’t.”

“CNN is beholden to the cancel-culture lobby,” The Mail’s inside source explained. “If they were to let Don go the minority representation lobby would go after them.”

The employee referenced Lemon’s February insult to former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, and indeed all women over fifty, suggesting they’re past their prime.

The Mail’s source added, “CNN is under new leadership but it is the same subservient attitude towards cancel culture. Since the Nikki Haley incident, women inside and outside the network are saying this is not acceptable.”
