Tim Tebow Opens Up About Saving Children From Sex Trafficking: ‘Fight For People Who Can’t Fight For Themselves’

On Sunday, former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow was interviewed on Fox News Channel's 'Fox News Sunday' by host Shannon Bream and spoke about his fight through the Tim Tebow Foundation and other agencies to help victims of child sex trafficking and exploitation worldwide. Speaking only days after his testimony before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance on Capitol Hill, Tebow said, "I was made aware of this several years ago, just the depth of it by one of our team members. She said to me, 'I believe there are 20,000 boys and girls that are still unidentified.' So, law enforcement can see their abuse and rape images, but they haven't been able to identify them. So, if you can't identify them, how could you possibly get to them?"

"We found that it's not 20,000 kids that are unknown or unidentified, it's over 50,000 boys and girls through the backlog that are unidentified in these global databases," he added. "There are so many boys and girls, and 65% of them are under the age of 12, and 4.3% of them – that's 2,100 – are infants." Tebow explained how his organization's work with Homeland Security Investigations on "Operation Renewed Hope" has located and identified 311 previously unknown victims.

"The tip of the spear for this fight is victim identification specialists. They are amazing front-line heroes, but right now, we only have seven here. We need to have 100, 200. One of the appeals we were making was to bring more funding…for these victim identification specialists. But it really starts with being able to build a team to identify (victims), and then partnerships around the world, because when you have one of these images or videos, you don't know where this lead is going to take you," Tebow said.

"Night to Shine is my favorite night of the year. We get to celebrate so many people that have never been celebrated before. We know, to our God, they have infinite value and worth, and we want to share that so that they can truly experience and know that," he added. In Tebow's opening statement during his congressional hearing, he said, "To sum it up, we strive to fight for people who can't fight for themselves. If all we do today is speak, all I do is speak. I also missed the mark. We have to do more than just talk about it. We have to act on it and be about it."
