Trump Argues That The Biden DOJ Went After Dem Rep Because He Was For Closed Borders - 'They're A Bunch Of D.C. Thugs'

On Sunday, presumptive Republican nominee Donald J. Trump slammed the Biden Department of Justice for indicting Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX), arguing that the basis for the indictment was the congressman's strong support for our border security and the ability of a nation to choose who she associates with.

"Biden just Indicted Henry Cuellar because the Respected Democrat Congressman wouldn't play Crooked Joe's Open Border game," Trump posted to Truth Social. "He was for Border Control, so they said, 'Let's use the FBI and DOJ to take him out!'" Trump has previously suggested that the Biden Administration is effectively overseeing the lawfare operation against him, so this is certainly in keeping with the 45th President's previous remarks on the alleged brazen lawlessness of the Biden Administration. 

Trump continued, adding, "This is the way they operate. They're a bunch of D.C. Thugs, and at some point, they will be paying a very big price for what they have done to our Country. CROOKED JOE BIDEN IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!" The Biden Justice Department indicted the Congressman on Friday, citing a bribe he allegedly took from an oil and gas company owned and controlled by the Azerbaijani government. "The DOJ alleges that Cuellar and his wife participated in 'two schemes involving bribery, unlawful foreign influence, and money laundering,'" the DC Enquirer previously reported. 

The congressman has been a strong advocate for border security among the Democrats in Congress, going so far as to launch a working group for Democrats focused on this most prized of assets. "It's important for Democrats to talk about strong border security and still be respectful of immigrants' rights," Cuellar told reporters, as previously reported by the Texas Tribune. "For so long, the Republicans have had a narrative about the border being a dangerous place and out of control. And I think it's important that Democrats also have a narrative about border security." 

The South Texas lawmaker also criticized the Biden administration's response to the border crisis, arguing that the open border agenda of the Democrats was certainly 'hurting' their outreach to Hispanic Americans. Cuellar previously told The Hill, "My district is about 80 percent Hispanic Democratic, and guess what? When I go to church or when I go to the store, what are people telling me? 'Henry, you got to secure the border. We got to do something.'" While the Left is notoriously in favor of an open border regime, the southern border matters, and at least some Democrats are starting to see just that.
