On Monday, a new poll released by NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll finds leading Republican presidential contender and 45th President Donald J. Trump destroying his Republican competition with the largest lead of any Iowa Republican Primary candidate since George W. Bush won the contest in 2000.
"In the poll, 42% of likely Republican caucusgoers say Trump is their first choice out of 14 GOP presidential candidates, while 19% pick DeSantis, the governor of Florida," NBC News reports. "They’re followed by Scott, at 9%; former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Vice President Mike Pence, both at 6%; former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 5%; and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 4%."
These numbers are truly impressive. Even with recent indictments, Trump has managed to be a unifying figure for Republicans, and voters are rallying around the 45th president in record numbers. As such, Trump is in as strong of a position with Republican voters as he has ever been. Trump is still the decisive leader in the Republican field, and he and his campaign show no signs of slipping up. The MAGA movement is thriving, and Republican voters continue to appreciate Trump's America First vision for the nation at large. If other Republicans want to bridge the gap between them and Trump, they will need to change their strategy big league.
Moreover, Trump remains a potent force to win the presidency in 2024. The Real Clear Politics polling average has Joe Biden and Donald J. Trump neck and neck in most surveys -- and Trump can afford to lose the popular vote. As such, it stands to reason that the radical, far-left Democrats would use any means necessary to gain a much-needed political advantage -- including indicting their most-likely political opponent. Fortunately for Americans, more and more voters are waking up to the facade and are embracing policies that put America and her interests first.
Trump reacted to this poll on his Truth Social, writing, "The highly anticipated Des Moines Register Poll of Iowa Voters is just out: 'DONALD TRUMP HOLDS COMMANDING LEAD In First Test of 2024 Republican Caucus Field.' Remember, I got the Farmers 28 Billion Dollars from China, the USMCA Trade Deal (& many others!), saved Ethanol, Social Security, and MediCare, & got Iowa 'First In the Nation' status."
Trump concluded by writing, "Nobody else could have done this. Anyway, I’m at 51%, a 31 Point lead over 'farmer hating' DeSanctimonious, with the others gaining on him, but not on me!"
