Trump Slams Prosecutorial Misconduct, Timing Of 'Ridiculous' Charges: 'Why Did They Wait To Bring Them Now?'

On Sunday afternoon, leading 2024 presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump highlighted the timing of the political persecution he's facing from President Joe Biden's Department of Justice (DOJ) and asked why the "ridiculous" charges are being brought against him now, as opposed to years before.

In a post on his top-rated social media platform, Truth Social, Trump asked, "Do you think that A.G. Garland, and Deranged Jack Smith, understand that we are in the middle of a major political campaign for President of the United States?"

"Have they looked at recent poll numbers? Why didn’t they bring these ridiculous charges years before - Why did they wait to bring them NOW - A virtually unheard of scenario? PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT! ELECTION INTERFERENCE," Trump added.

This comes after Judge Aileen Cannon set Trump's trial date to open on May 20, 2024, concerning Special Counsel Jack Smith's first June indictment of Trump supposedly "mishandling" classified documents.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all 37 fraudulent counts brought by Smith in that indictment earlier this year.

Luckily for Trump, he has the ultimate defense. Trump turned Jack Smith’s frivolous federal indictment of him on its head when he cited the Presidential Records Act as a defense.

The Presidential Records Act is a 1978 law that allows presidents to decide what records to keep and take, regardless of what the National Archives and Records Administration thinks.

Trump revealed on Truth Social last week that he received a target letter from Jack Smith and expects to be indicted a second time by Smith over the January 6 protests.

In March, Trump was indicted by far-left Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg over a $130,000 payment to adult film "star" Stormy Daniels made by his former lawyer and now-convicted liar, Michael Cohen.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all of Bragg's 34 frivolous felony charges.

In April, Bragg held a press conference and told reporters he doesn’t need to “specify” what crimes Trump actually committed because “the law does not so require.”
