On Monday, leading 2024 presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump spoke to a massive crowd of supporters in Laconia, New Hampshire, a day before the Tuesday state primary. During the event, he vowed to end the child trafficking crisis. "I'll use Title 42 to end the child trafficking crisis by returning all trafficked children to their families in their home countries immediately," Trump said. No other president or presidential candidate has done more to fight the horrific practice of human and child trafficking than President Trump.
Trump has also vowed to seek the death penalty for drug traffickers, human traffickers, and child traffickers if he is reelected to the White House. Under Trump's stunning administration, Trump signed nine pieces of legislation to fight child and human trafficking not only in the United States but worldwide. In total, Trump authorized nearly $600 million to fight child and human trafficking.
Trump's presidency resulted in a 14 percent increase in human and child trafficking convictions in 2017. The 45th president did more than any other president to fight child trafficking, potentially saving millions of children from modern-day slavery. Trump's Director of National Intelligence declared human trafficking a top priority for American intelligence agencies, which Biden has since rescinded. Trump was the first ever president to participate in a task force that monitors and combats human trafficking. Trump's record of fighting child trafficking is not only impressive but historic.
This comes after Trump made history as the first-ever Republican or Democrat presidential candidate to win the Iowa caucuses with a majority of the vote despite below-freezing temperatures. The last time a candidate came close to winning the majority was in the 1984 Democrat caucus when Walter F. Mondale won 49 percent of the vote.
Iowa hand-counted their paper ballots on live television. With all caucusgoers counted, Donald Trump earned 51 percent of the vote and 16 delegates. Florida's Absentee Governor, Ron DeSantis (R-FL), came in a distant second place with 21.2 percent, 29.8 points behind Trump. Former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) came in third with 19.1 percent. Trump's massive landslide victory even resulted in Trump winning 98 of the 99 counties, only losing Johnson County, where many Democrats joined Republicans to caucus, by a single vote. Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy dropped out of the race following his fourth-place finish and endorsed President Trump after only securing 7.7 percent of the vote.
