Twitter experienced an outage and went down for nearly forty minutes on Thursday, perplexing users all across the globe who subscribe to the social media giant.
Beginning around 8:05 AM EST, people began reporting outages on the site, according to The Verge. Error messages reportedly ranged from “this page is down” to “over capacity.”
Website tracker “Downdetector” reports nearly 54,000 unique outage complaints at their peak, which was around 8:11 AM EST. That number was down to 2,000 within the hour, per Reuters.
The exact cause of the outage is still being determined, but as of 11:30 AM EST, Twitter appeared to be back up. As of Thursday afternoon, however, their Status website had still not reported what triggered the issue.
ELON MUSK CONTINUES TO OUT MANEUVER TWITTER FOLLOWING POTENTIAL COLLAPSE OF $44 BILLION DEAL
“Twitter Support” had posted a message on Thursday morning saying they were “working to get it [the site] back up and running for everyone.”
Some of you are having issues accessing Twitter and we’re working to get it back up and running for everyone. Thanks for sticking with us.

This outage comes just days after Elon Musk’s reversal of the anticipated $44 billion buyout deal he had orchestrated to acquire the tech company.
DCEnquirer reported earlier this week on Musk’s reservations concerning bot activity on the platform, claiming Twitter would have to disclose the number of fake bots on their site if they wanted him to follow through on the deal.
Twitter is now suing Musk as a result, hoping it will force him into concluding the buyout, causing him to post some rather cheeky tweets in reply.

While Twitter may be back online, for now, the company’s culture is anything but thriving — and its future is anything but secure.
It should reassess its recent actions against free speech if it wants to keep an established edge over the competition.
Without a man like Elon at the helm, the overall outlook remains uncertain at best.
