On Tuesday, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocassio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed that if biological men were not allowed to compete in women's athletics, then all girl participants would have to undergo 'genital examinations' to determine if they were fit to compete. The New York representative did so during former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines's testimony before Congress - calling her proposal and the proposal of Republicans an "invasion of privacy."
"A lot of these proposals involve invasion of privacy of all women," Ocassio-Cortez said before asking activist Fatima Goss Graves about what standards exist to judge the ability of women to participate in sports. Goss Graves mentioned a prospective Ohio bill that mentioned the possibility of genital examination. To this, Ocassio-Cortex replied, "We are talking about opening up all women and girls to genital examinations when they are underage, potentially just because someone can point to someone and say, I don't think you are a girl. And we're saying this in an environment of a post-Dobbs America, where states are criminalizing access to abortion and want nothing more than data on women to figure out when, who's getting a menstrual cycle, who doesn't have one, and we're supposed to believe this is going to make us better and safer?"
"I think not, and, per usual, I don't believe we're sitting here on a panel of men that has actually thought about the biology and privacy consequences of all women, trans or cisgender here," Ocassio-Cortez said, ending her baseless rant. Of course, these remarks are indefensible. There is no connection between the Dobbs decision and the fight for fairness in women's sports. They are two separate issues, but Ocassio-Cortez is fearmongering to scare people into voting Democrat. While the Republicans are right on the abortion issue, Ocassio-Cortez is pushing the broad public controversy surrounding abortion to combat something that has significantly less public controversy - most people are not in favor of biological men competing with women. A Pew Research survey finds that nearly 60 percent of Americans are in favor of requiring biological men to compete on a team matching their birth assignment. Moreover, Goss Graves is misrepresenting the Ohio bill in question. The provision in question was removed as "unnecessary" over a year ago.
"I'm not sure why that's in the bill, it's unnecessary," State Senate President Matt Huffman said about the genital inspection provision in June 2022, as previously reported by Fox News Digital. "All of these tests can be done with a simple DNA swab." Gaines, in turn, responded to Ocassio-Cortez's baseless remarks during an appearance on Outkick's 'The Morning with Charly Arnolt,' saying. "Certain states check birth certificates and certain [sports] governing bodies [do] cheek swabs, but there is no genital inspection."
"Actually, the people who had their genitals inspected were the females in that locker room who had a man in that locker room. But that doesn't matter to AOC or, again, any of the Democratic members in the U.S. House and the Senate or the Biden administration. I certainly agree that was entirely fearmongering. That's absolutely what that was," Gaines added, as previously reported by Fox News Digital. These are potent remarks that the American people can get behind as we fight to challenge the woke left in all areas of life.
