On Thursday evening, Biden White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre joined MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight” to discuss the recent revelations shown by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson. During the interview, the press secretary blasted Carlson for not forwarding the truth and spreading misinformation about the events that took place during the Capitol Riot.
“The White House has been fairly outspoken about what is happening in certain Republican circles, specifically what’s going on at Fox News where Tucker Carlson is trying to whitewash the events of January 6th,” the MSNBC host said going on to cite a tweet sent by the president.
“More than 140 officers were injured on Jan 6. I’ve said before: How dare anyone diminish or deny the hell they went through?” the president tweeted on Wednesday. “I stand with the [Capitol Police]. I hope House Republicans feel ashamed for what was done to undermine our law enforcement.”
“Does the White House consider Fox News, a news organization?” Wagner asked.
“So, I’ll say this, when you look at the depositions that have been out there recently, it even states from Fox News leadership, they do not see Tucker Carlson’s show as news or even truthful,” Jean Pierre claimed. “That is coming from the Fox leadership. That’s not coming from me. That’s coming from them.”
“And also would quote, paraphrase here, with the chief of Capital police said,” she continued. “He said when you watch Tucker Carlson as it relates to January 6, it is misleading. It is misinformation with the conclusion of what happened on January 6, the attacks that happened.”
“As you saw from the president’s statement, 140 officers were injured, nearly 140 officers were injured on that day. It was an attack on democracy,” she argued. “It was an attack on our Constitution, and you cannot whitewash that.”

“Tucker Carlson cannot whitewash that. Anyone who doesn’t see with their own eyes what occurred cannot whitewash that,” the press secretary emphasized. “And so, the president’s going to stand with the police officers. He’s going to stand for truth. And clearly, that is not what Tucker Carlson believes in.”
“So, I’m going to say that sort of sounds like the White House doesn’t think Fox is a news organization,” the MSNBC host concluded from the press secretary’s comments.
In addition to the White House attacking Carlson, other high-ranking Democrats have followed suit including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) who demanded that Carlson be silenced, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
“Fox News should tell him not to. Fox News, Rupert Murdoch tell Tucker Carlson not to run a second segment of lies,” he demanded. “You know it’s a lie, you’ve admitted it’s a lie. Speaker McCarthy is every bit as culpable as Mr. Carlson. Speaker McCarthy’s decision to share security footage with Fox looked like a mistake from the very beginning. But after last night, it looks like a disaster. Speaker McCarthy has played a treacherous game by catering to the hard right. He’s enabled the Big Lie and has further eroded away our precious democracy.”
In response to this Tucker asserted that Schumer wants to restrict the public’s access to the footage in order to maintain “the narrative.”
“It’s a threat to democracy, pull him off the air,” Tucker mocked, adding that you don’t often see the majority leader calling for censorship on the Senate floor which would go against the First Amendment.
Carlson stated the Democrat’s attacks on him are fueled by fear and panic because they are a threat to what “Schumer has been telling for the past 26 months.”
The Fox host also blasted Republicans like Tom Tillis, Mitt Romney, and Mitch McConnell who also attacked the host’s reporting with Tucker asking “What are they trying to protect?” Additionally, he said that “they are all on the same side.”
