During an interview on Fox News on Wednesday, Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) told host Martha Maccallum that the United States under President Joe Biden has become a "dictatorship." Burgum, a potential candidate for Trump's vice president, flipped the script on some in the left-wing media that have attempted to cast Trump as a man with dictatorial intentions if he were to win a second term in the White House.
"A number of people in the media talking about the possibility of imprisonment for people who disagree with former President Trump, people being put in camps, that the entire system of government would be under collapse pressure under a second Trump term," the Fox News host told Burgum. "What would you say to them?"
"Well, Martha, I think you know that this is just ridiculous," the North Dakota governor began. "The Democrats seem to have two strategies. One is to be afraid. And the second strategy is, be even more afraid. There's no basis at all for these assertions that they are making. It's fearmongering. President Trump served as our president for four years, and we had peace and prosperity."
"Under Joe Biden, we're actually living under a dictatorship today, where he's, you know, bypassing Congress on immigration policies, bypassing Congress on protecting our border, he's bypassing Congress on a student loan forgiveness, and he's defying the Supreme Court," Burgum explained to the Fox News audience, as reported by Breitbart. "I mean, those are the things that authoritarians and dictators do, is, they don't follow our democratic processes, and they just assert their own liberal view. And that's what the Biden administration's doing. So what they're really afraid of is that President Trump is ahead in the polls, with all the groups in America on all the issues that matter most to most Americans, whether it's of the border, inflation, or interest rates."
While President Biden has continued to abuse his executive authority to usurp the Supreme Court and Congress, that hasn't stopped Democrats from accusing Trump of plotting even worse. As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Rep. Alexandria Ocascio-Cortez (D-NY) stated that she is worried that the presumptive GOP nominee would throw her in jail if he won the November presidential election.
"I mean, it sounds nuts, but I wouldn't be surprised if this guy threw me in jail," The New York progressive said. "He's out of his mind. I mean, he did his whole first campaign around 'lock her up.' This is his motto."
"I take him at his word when he says that he's going to round up people," she said. "I take him at his word when he threatens journalists. I take him at his word. I feel like what we saw in his first presidency was an amuse-bouche to what his intentions are. He has learned from his mistakes of appointing professionals, and he will not make that mistake next time."
While Democrat politicians have continued to fearmonger about a potential second Trump term, the leader of the Republican Party is working to put forth a vision that works for all Americans and tackles the most pressing problems facing America.
