WATCH: Hunter Biden's Attorney Believes His Client Is Being Targeted Because He Is Joe Biden's Son

During a Monday appearance on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe,' Abbe Lowell, attorney for Hunter Biden, claimed the Department of Justice was targeting his client specifically because he is the son of Joseph R. Biden. Lowell also blamed the role of the right-wing media, who are actively expressing skepticism about the activities of Joe Biden and the crimes of the Biden crime family.

"It is just another way Hunter has been treated differently than others in similar circumstances have been treated," Lowell began. When Lowell was pressed on if he felt Hunter Biden was being treated differently by federal prosecutors because of his last name, Lowell said. "well, yes and no. It is because his last name is Biden, but it is not like they are going after some distant cousin. It is because he is the son of the president, whose name is Biden."

This comes after Department of Justice Special Counsel and Delaware US Attorney David Weiss announced new indictments against Hunter Biden for tax-related charges last week. As the DC Enquirer previously reported, "the Department of Justice filed new criminal charges in the Central District of California against the president's son, Hunter Biden, alleging that he failed to pay $1.4 million in taxes while living out a luxurious lifestyle. Hunter 'spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills,' Special Counsel David Weiss said in a statement." As such, Weiss charged Hunter with three felony and six misdemeanor tax offenses.

Lowell continued, adding, "The Republicans and anybody else who has been investigating, on the right-wing media, for example, have tried and tried to say that President Biden has done something wrong. They can't find a shred of evidence because he has not. And yet, they want this to be an issue. And what they've successfully done, because they go out on the airwaves, and people do not understand the difference between truth and misinformation, is basically saying, 'Okay, I can't get the president, so I'll besmirch his son in a way that suggests that there's something going on between the two of them.'"

Lowell ended by saying, "It is because his last name is Biden, because of his proximity to his dad, who has been a supportive father to his son during all the best and worst parts of Hunter's life. And that is what makes this different." Of course, these remarks are bizarre -- Hunter Biden is being pursued for his misdeeds and nothing else. We, the people, demand answers, and given Hunter's close proximity to his father, these answers are genuinely weighty indeed.
