WATCH: ‘Jesus Revolution’ Makes Huge Announcement Following STUNNING Success, See If It’s Playing in Your Local Theater

Over the weekend it was announced that the new hit Christian movie ‘Jesus Revolution’ will be adding 100 new theaters across the country so that audiences can catch the movie before it leaves theaters.

The film centers around the hippie movement and the Christian spiritual ‘revival’ that coincided with that movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the studio expected the film to gross around 6-7 million dollars over its opening weekend. The film blew these expectations out of the water, grossing over 15.8 million dollars.

Jesus Revolution was the third-ranked film over the previous weekend, trailing only Universal’s ‘Cocaine Bear’ and Walt Disney’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’ The budgets of both of these films were considerably higher than the budget of ‘Jesus Revolution’, making the film a major win for wholesome entertainment.

The film also played well with audiences. The film has a 99 percent audience score on the film review site ‘Rotten Tomatoes.’ It also has a 99 percent audience score on Cinema Score, making director Jon Erwin the first director to score a 99 percent audience score with Cinema Score on four separate occasions.

In response to the astounding success of the film, the company behind the project announced on their Facebook page that they will be expanding their showings: “We’ve added 100 new theaters for this weekend!! The audience reaction has blown us all away, and we’re thrilled to be bringing JESUS REVOLUTION to more cities! Check now to see if JESUS REVOLUTION is playing near you. Let’s keep the movement going.”

The movie’s co-director Jon Erwin took to social media to explain how grateful he is for the support he has received for the movie and the impact that God has been able to have by using the movie to bring people to faith.

“I don’t have words. I’m supposed to say thank you for your overwhelming support of ‘Jesus Revolution’ and for shocking the industry and for the opening weekend. I’m so awestruck with how God is using the movie. I don’t even know what words to use,” said the movie’s director. “God’s timing is just perfect and revival is in the air in America again. I love how much you love this movie. I love watching this movie with an audience. It’s such a privilege to entertain you. To hear you laugh and cry and to hear theaters, where people are cheering during the film, is amazing. But most of all to hear how God is using the movie and to see these posts on social media where people are getting baptized right after the movie.”

“We did not plan this moment of Jesus walking on water, Super Bowl commercials, and a movie called ‘Jesus Revolution’ all in the same month with revival,” he said. “The fact that this is happening, Revival is in the air again. Jesus is back in the conversation again.”

With the Asbury Revival taking place last month and the sudden success of movies like ‘Jesus Revolution’ and shows like ‘The Chosen,’ something is clearly happening in America and God is at work.
