WATCH: Joe Biden Launches Ridiculous New Effort To Forgive Student Loans Before 2024 Election

On Monday, President Joe Biden announced a new effort to forgive the student loans of "millions" of more borrowers -- nearly 30 million to be exact. As such, the new plan amounts to another sham effort to effectively buy the votes of young people across the nation—an effort that was similarly utilized in the 2022 midterm elections with some success. "I said I wouldn't back down from using every tool at our disposal to get student loan borrowers the relief they need. That's why today we're announcing new plans that, if implemented, would cancel student debt for millions more," Joe Biden posted on Monday.

The Biden White House also put out a press release, writing, "The plans, if implemented, would provide debt relief to over 30 million Americans when combined with actions the Biden-Harris Administration has already taken to cancel student debt over the past three years. While Republican elected officials try every which way to block millions of their own constituents from receiving student debt cancellation, President Biden has vowed to use every tool available to cancel student debt for as many borrowers as possible, as quickly as possible." Of course, the Republicans are exactly right to criticize these actions -- this is not a power unilaterally afforded to the president in the United States Constitution. We, the people, deserve better.

Biden continued his remarks in a video clip attached to the post, adding, "From day one, my administration has been committed to fixing the broken student loan system and making sure higher education is a ticket to the middle class -- not a barrier. My administration has approved debt cancelation for four million Americans through various actions. And today, I am announcing new plans that would cancel debt for millions more. In total, these plans would cancel some or all student debt for 30 million Americans when combined with everything we've done so far." As Forbes previously reported, "The proposal would cancel up to $20,000 in interest for more than 25 million people enrolled in the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) repayment plan and other income-driven repayment (IDR) plans—including single borrowers earning $120,000 or less and married borrowers earning $240,000 or less."

Fortunately for Americans who value fiscal conservatism, Trump remains a potent force to win the presidency in 2024, and, as such, he has a great chance to reimplement a truly effective America First agenda that doesn't involve the moral hazard latent in student debt cancelation. The Real Clear Politics polling average has him besting Joe Biden in nationwide polling in recent months, despite the fact that Republican presidential candidates can generally afford to underperform in the popular vote while still winning the election - as they did in 2000 and 2016. If Republicans sell their agenda and effectively criticize the Biden administration's America Last policies, the sky is the limit for Republicans in 2024 -- and our nation may very well depend on it. That means rallying around an agenda that is widely popular with Americans -- an agenda that stands up for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all.
