WATCH: Marco Rubio HUMILIATES NBC Journalist, Says Democrats Are Undermining Democracy

During a Sunday appearance on NBC's 'Meet The Press,' Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) told host Kristen Welker that it is the Democrats and not the Republicans who are truly interested in undermining democracy in America. When asked if he would accept the results of the 2024 election "no matter what happens," the Florida senator promptly replied, "No matter what happens? No. If it's an unfair election, I think it's going to be contested." Of course, this is the correct attitude -- no one can be expected to receive the results of an election "no matter what."

Such a question is predicated upon the false assumption that election fraud is impossible and that there are no conceivable threats to the democratic process -- two assumptions that even the far-Left Democrats do not share. After all, the Radical Left spent the better part of four years contesting the results of the 2016 election for utterly baseless reasons. As such, Senator Rubio continued, adding, "The Democrats are the ones that have opposed every Republican victory since 2000, every single one." When Welker argued Hillary Clinton conceded to Donald J. Trump in 2016, the Florida senator replied, "Hillary Clinton said the election was stolen from her and that Trump was illegitimate." He also listed Vice President Kamala Harris as a concurring voice, with many other Democrats sharing this false sentiment. 

Welker then proceeded to list more examples of Democrats allegedly conceding even as they voiced their doubts about the integrity of our elections. Rubio argued this was not the central issue; after all, the Democrats appear to be quite interested in adopting measures that undermine American trust in democracy (for instance, their opposition to voter ID laws) and their position on ballot drop boxes. After all, Americans should be able to trust that only those joined to American society through citizenship are participating in our elections, and the Democrats are uninterested in common-sense measures to ensure the integrity of our elections. 

"I think what undermines people's confidence in the election is when you have places like Wisconsin with over 500 illegal drop box locations when you have places like Georgia where liberal groups ... were paying people $10 per vote," Rubio added. "What undermines elections is when NBC News and every major news outlet in America in 2020 censored the Biden laptop story, which turned out to be true, not Russian misinformation, unprecedented. You couldn't even talk about it on social media. They would de-platform you. People look at all this."

"I'm telling you that if it's unfair, we are going to do the same thing Democrats do. We're going to use lawyers to go to court and point out the fact that states are not following their own election laws," Rubio concluded. Of course, Americans should have a default trust in our sacred institutions; this is a conservative principle found in all our best thinkers. Still, this trust is not infallible or inerrant -- it can be lost through frequent breaches of the faith.

Governments are founded and persist through the consent of the governed, and God concurs with a government rightly formed and acting. As such, governments are not self-forming, and a government that fails to abide by its contractual obligations to the American people has undoubtedly lost the trust it would deserve if it acted as it ought to. 

Moreover, Rubio rightly notes the role of the media as a safeguard of democracy and an instrument against demagoguery. But has our media acted as the Founders intended? Certainly not. Instead, our media has more or less acted in the singular interests of the Democratic Party -- a Party that is systematically interested in destroying the unborn and promoting degeneracy across the world, intervening in the realm of conscience and warring against the right to bear arms and to protect our end of the trust established in the social contract. As such, for all the Left's pearl-clutching about democracy and other sacred cows of the Left, it is not the Republicans who are to blame for thwarting the will of the Founders, as laid out in the Constitution. It is the Radical Left who detests everything our Founding stood for and continues to stand for in the hearts and minds of millions of Americans.
