WATCH: Matt Gaetz Pushes MAJOR New Bill To Defund Special Counsel Jack Smith's Office Ahead Of Trump's Expected Indictment

On Tuesday, Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) introduced an epic new bill to defund Special Counsel Jack Smith's office, who is reportedly set on indicting 45th President and leading Republican presidential contender Donald J. Trump.

"BREAKING: I will be introducing legislation to DEFUND Jack Smith’s witch hunt against President Trump," Gaetz tweeted. "They are attacking our democracy and engaging in election interference right now. The United States Congress has the capability to stop this election interference, and we must act immediately!"
Gaetz attached a clip to his tweet, in which he said, "the House of Representatives needs to take action to defund this Special Counsel investigation immediately. We do not have to wait for the appropriations process ... they are attacking our Democracy and engaging in election interference right now."

Gaetz continued, saying, "if the United States Congress does not have the ability to stop the election interference, then what is all the flowery oratory about preserving the Republic? We have to operationalize that. So in the coming hours and the coming days, I will be introducing legislation, in my name, as a free-standing legislation to defund the Jack Smith investigation."

"And one reason why is the election interference feature," Gaetz added. "The other reason why is the lack of transparency ... I just want to know who is on Jack Smith's team... if you look at Jack Smith and his teams, you ought to be able to evaluate where they made political donations, where they have been political appointees, what their connections are to people who have skin in the game to preserve their power in Washington D.C."

Gaetz then summarized his case, saying, "So because the Department of Justice has been nonresponsive on my request for reasonable information a member of the judiciary committee is absolutely entitled to, because this is election interference, because it is not predicated on what we all saw as a nation, President Trump said, we have to stop sending money to this."

"The power of the purse is not some intermittent thing that we wield every year and a half or every fiscal cycle. It is something we have to wield day in and day out to achieve victory for our people," Gaetz concluded.
