WATCH: Romney Opponent Mayor Trent Staggs Explains His America First Take On Ukraine

On Wednesday, Trent Staggs (R-UT), Mayor of Riverton, Utah, explained his America First stance on the United States's involvement in Ukraine during an explosive appearance on the 'Dinesh D'Souza Podcast.' Staggs is running against RINO Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) in a 2024 bid to represent Utah in the United States Senate.

"Well I do not at all agree with supporting and getting the US into endless wars, and spending $130, $140 billion dollars for a country that is not part of NATO, and that Europe, its closest neighbors, are only putting up around $20 billion dollars. So something is wrong here," Staggs told guest host Brandon Gill.

Staggs was responding to a tweet from Senator Romney, in which he said, "The single most important thing we can do to strengthen America relative to China is to see Russia defeated in Ukraine. A weakened Russia deters the CCP's territorial ambition and halts Putin's vision of reestablishing the old Soviet Union. Supporting Ukraine is in our interest."

"We should not be advocating for all of this. I saw where he saw elsewhere, 'This is a great deal! This only amounts to 5 percent of all of our defense budget, and we can spend it over there.' I do not know what it is with these NeoCons, who are so eager to rush America into war," Staggs remarked. "It is just not something that at all that I would do, that I would support. I have been on the record, very clearly about that."
 

Staggs continued, adding, "I liked some of the comments that Vivek Ramaswamy, actually responded to that... he just said, 'Hey, no, Senator Romney, you are wrong, yet again. What this does is only emboldens China even further, by pushing Russia into their arms."

As Staggs noted, earlier last week, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy responded to Romney's comments on X, saying, "Wrong again, @SenatorRomney. The single most important thing we can do to strengthen America relative to China is to disband the Russia-China military alliance & reduce our economic dependence on China. Instead we’re driving Russia further into China’s hands by the day while @JoeBiden sleepwalks us into a major conflict. Sadly, the GOP Establishment aids & abets it daily."

As such, Staggs concluded by saying Romney was "completely wrong, with respect to this issue."

Staggs is supporting a brand new America First vision for the Republican Party, and it is truly beautiful to behold. Republicans must put America First if they hope to win big league in 2024.
