This week, comedian and podcaster Russell Brand took to his show to blast the mainstream media and praise Tucker Carlson following his departure from Fox News on Monday.
“The media is obsessed with itself,” Brand began his fiery rant. “It’s in a sort of narcissistic spiral reporting on its own perspectives. Its own heroes and its own villains.”
“What is the mainstream media supposed to be for?” he asked his Rumble audience. “Just for a moment remind yourself that it’s actually about giving you information about important stuff like how the government is governing, how corporations are behaving. The information that you need to live your life efficiently and effectively so you are informed politically.”
“It doesn’t do that. You know it doesn’t do that,” the comedian explained. “You know that the mainstream media is owned by certain corporate interests.”
“You know that it gets all of its revenue from the pharmaceutical industry. You know they are tied up in the military-industrial complex,” he stated, adding, “And you know that they support the state with only partisan distinctions between this party and that party defining their output.”
“They do not serve in your awakening,” he said. “They don’t serve in your empowerment.”

Brand then moved on to what he thinks the implications would be if Tucker Carlson joined an independent network. For Tucker’s part, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer, he is currently relaxing in sunny Florida and when asked about what he sees in his future, he said, “Appetizers plus entrée.”
“Where Tucker Carlson goes next will inform us a great deal about our political landscape,” Brand remarked about the former Fox News host. “If he joins an independent news organization, that will be fascinating.”
“It will demonstrate where the power is moving and it will show us why authoritarians, centralized systems of power are doubling down on trying to censor, control, surveil, prohibit, smear, and destroy any alternative voices because they recognize now that we can all communicate instantaneously and challenge any narratives that they put forward,” Brand concluded, adding, “That’s why they’ve become an ultra propagandist.”
The movement away from traditional cable news and mainstream newspapers has been going on for years as citizen journalists and independent networks like Rumble, Locals, The Daily Wire, The Blaze and now even Twitter under Elon Musk fill the void. Carlson’s next move will certainly mark a shift in what is perceived as mainstream given his lengthy career in cable news.
