On Friday, Tucker Carlson started his fifth interview with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy during the FAMiLY Leadership Summit.
The summit, which can be viewed here, will be hosting multiple GOP presidential candidates including Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), former Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), former Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN), Vivek Ramaswamy, and other candidates. Tucker Carlson will be interviewing each of them.
The interview between the two began when Carlson asked whether the country is doing well. Ramaswamy explained that the country is not in a good place because Americans are looking for a purpose and there isn't one being offered.
Vivek explained that a secular religion has filled the void where God should be, saying that it "hasn't satisfied our moral hunger." He said that Republicans need to run to and stand for family and a nation under God. He explained that younger people are more open to that vision than they realize.
The conversation then turned to the recent deployment of troops to Eastern Europe to which Vivek said that there is no basis to go and defend "someone else's border halfway around the world" when the southern border is wide open.
"We have to put the interests of our country first," Vivek said, adding that the rest of the GOP field is indistinguishable from Joe Biden on the issue of funding the war in Ukraine.
Carlson then said that a lot of GOP donors do not support the idea of pulling back on funding the war with Vivek explaining that he has lost donors thanks to his stance on the conflict.
"The Russia-China alliance is the single greatest threat that the US faces today and we are pushing Russia closer into China's arms," he said.
The conversation then turned to January 6th where Ramaswamy explained that the cause of the riot was due to pervasive censorship in the country that took place during the coronavirus pandemic.
The candidate explained that the censorship that took place during the 2020 election is what egged on the Capitol Riot. "I'm sorry to say this Tucker but I think until we reckon with that reality, I worry that that is a friendly parley compared to what is to come," the presidential hopeful explained.
Vivek then explained that the best measure of America's democracy is the percentage of people who feel free to say what they think in public. He explained that the country is in a bad place thanks to government and corporate censorship.
The candidate then spoke about his own experience, on LinkedIn, of being censored, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
Vivek then spoke about an anecdote that happened earlier in the week in which he allowed a protestor to interrupt an event of his which can be viewed below.
The conversation then turned to Ramaswamy's change of views once he got involved in politics. In response, the candidate said that Americans aren't as divided as the media makes things out to be.
"One of the things that I've been convinced of is...I don't think we are as divided as we are taught to be," he said. The presidential hopeful then explained his recent visit to the southside of Chicago when he met with residents who are dealing with the housing of migrants in a local high school, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.
He then said that there are two groups of people in the country. There is one group that is anti-American and one that is pro-American. He then explained that he doesn't use the term 'Republican' that often anymore because the label doesn't "do much for us now." He explained that 40 percent of his donors are first-time donors to the Republican Party.
"If we actually prioritize our vision, I believe it is going to be a landslide victory," Ramaswamy said about the upcoming election.
The conversation then turned to whether or not Biden would be the nominee to which Vivek explained that it will be determined by who will be the GOP nominee. He said that if he were the nominee, then Biden would not be run by the Democrats. He then said that he is not running against anyone but instead is running for a vision for the country.
